My MK3 Fiesta Zetec turbo build....

Is that the 6 speed focus box?
What kind of problems are there fitting it compared to a standard IB5?
Im building a ZT Ka and i already have an IB5 and a Getrag 6 spd but not sure what to use tbh.

There are a few problems, first of all you need custom mounts, custom drive shafts and it uses a hydraulic clutch.
Theoretically it should fit in a Ka but not totally sure. It is a bit overkill for the power I am running now, but I was going to be running nearer 400bhp before I had some money problems.
The clutch and flywheel are good for over 500bhp easy.
I got the box, linkages and lever for £350.
Phone Si at Sitech and he'll give you some advice.

Yes it is the Focus 6 speed box.

Ka uses a hyd. clutch anyway (im pretty sure)
Do you mean the standard ST170 clutch/fly?
i got a 70k mile box and linkages and stick for £120!
Ill probably fit it with an IB5 to start with as i can use standard mounts and shafts and uprated clutch.

Yeah I could certainly try and measure them for you the next time I'm up at Sitech. I am going to use 3mm spacers just to give me a few extra mm's as they are pretty close. Best setup to fit behind the 15's on a budget though.
Think my FRP setup including new pads, seals, bolts and pad clips cost me around £450....I never painted them as I didn't see the point.
Next upgrade will be 2 piece Hi-spec disks and bells when I can afford it.

How comes your wanting a new forged ZT bottom end mate? What happened to it if you don't mind me asking?
Read your wanted post but it wouldn't let me reply. Sure it was the same engine i nearly bought but decided to build one instead

Had the car running really roughly last week....had compression problems in 1 & 2, guessing it is the piston rings at the moment. I'm going up next week to get the engine out to have a look.

Epic engine failure....was up at Sitech on Tuesday taking it apart. As we thought it was the piston rings that were to blame, however they were not broken. When we took it apart it appears that whoever built the engine built it dry as number 2 piston ring was seized into the piston, same in all 4 pistons. Managed to get them out and cleaned them up.....
However the oil pump is dead, scored and chipped gears etc....and number 3 con rod looks as though its had quite abit of heat through it at some point, possibly repaired???...
Anyway it needs rebuilt and I'm running out of cash. If I don't find a suitable solution I'll have to break the car.
I'll update when I find out more.

I'll try and keep going, so near the end now. Cash flow has dried up a bit and then this happens......not having much luck with cars this year!
Waiting on Simon getting back to me regards cost for repair.

Time for an update....finally on the last few weeks for the build hopefully. After the disasterous engine problem lat last year I have been working hard in my spare time with what little cash I have left to build my own engine at Sitech with a helping hand from Nik and Si...a few pics of the new engine parts and the old knackered ones...
I am heading up tomorrow to finish it off as it now only needs the timing done and put back together. I'll be there monday and tuesday and if I work hard enough it should almost be ready for start up once again.
I bought a MK1 FRS starter button along with some switches for the dash, I am waiting on my Race Technology CAN link cable for my ECU aswell.
Thanks for reading.

Yeah, standard oil pump, the damage had already been done to the engine so the old one was binned. Got a brand new one now. I won't be going major high power output so can't justify paying for anything extra.
If I get up there early enough tomorrow then I should have the engine and gearbox together ready for dropping in by lunchtime.

Finally got this up and running on Thursday, it was such a relief after building my own engine. The real test now though is mapping next week. Lets see what it an do.
Big thanks to Nik, Si and Veh at Sitech for all the help over the years.

Thanks guys. I was pretty chuffed with the engine build, don't know if I could do it again without help.
I am hoping to get a space at a track evening at Knockhill, 4th June. After that its 4 sessions at Ford Fair....after a 350 mile drive down! Who wants to pay my fuel bill?

Finally some videos of it running, just short ones taken today. Final mapping this week hopefully, and I need a new battery...
Not the best but...
Its pretty quiet when you're next to it. Seems I built it right! Thanks to the team at Sitech for their help again.
My CAN cable arrived for my ECU/Dash 2 today so Bezo has sme more wiring to do.

It has an MOT!!!!....a proper one, ha ha. Nik just phoned me, so pleased. This must be the longest running project on here.
Don't know power as yet, should get that tomorrow.
Cheers.

Had some good news from Sitech today, they had it on the rollers last night after my burst radiator and fuel pump issues were sorted..
Result:317bhp @ 16psi
not bad for standard head, cams and turbo I think.
Should pick it up pretty soon.

Thanks guys, its been a long time since I have driven it. Spoke with Nick, I'm going to pick it up on Friday. They have backed the boost off a bit so the 317bhp was the top figure.
It seems that all the parts are working together very well, so I doubt I will be adding or changing anything for a while.

I picked it up today so I could give it a shake down and test on the road for a week or so before taking it back for checking over and tweak if necessary.
What can I say? well its bloody mental, rapid fast when the boost comes on(which is almost instant) it torque steers but its just on the limit of what is acceptable I think. Its very basic inside, noisy, hot and my drivers position needs moved about a bit but that will be done this week.
All I can say is 300bhp in a stripped out fiesta is a great laugh !!it was raining too which made the journey home quite "interesting" shall I say.
The "hot" idle map needs adjusting as it wants to stall sometimes, Simon is aware and is going to sort it out when I take it back up.
I don't have any pics as it was raining and I don't have my camera anyway....
