yeah mate all sorted i think, lol getting the arches cut monday and then im ready,
put it on the rollers to day to check it over and all is good apart from the poxy fcuking boost surge which is killing the torque off @ 190lbft but it still made 280bhp, with the boost drop off/surge sorted it will see over 300bhp so im happy everything else is looking good

when i walked in there earlier today i reconised the bloke and turns out its a mate i havent seen in aout 5 years who actually owns/runs the place on his own, small world ay
very handy having someone with a dyno dynamics rolling road that close to us, its only a 2wd one tho not that it really matters to us fwd boys

fitted the uprated anti roll bar today, had to make a few alterations as with 5 adjustment holes it was to close to the beam so i have cut it down to 4, still leaving me with up to 8x the standard xr2 roll bar stiffness.
also today i made some new strps for the battery box as i wasnt happy with the old 1's, there only temp tho for next weekend as il have a new red top 30 fitted after that so its all gonna change anyway,
got a trackday at bedford next saterday so the car is ready to go apart from new springs which i havent fitted so will prob fit quickly when i get there, 550lb rears & 325lb fronts, as yet i have had no time, or in yesterdays case a massive hangover
put the car on the rollers yesterday to check it over and all is good apart from boost surge which is a pain in the arse as it is killing the torque so is booked in to sort for good after the trackday,
made roughly 280bhp @ fly i think it was but was good for more but aborted due to the surge,
graphs to follow soon as the bloody printer broke on my run lol

RADDERS - only top 5 il will have to make it quicker then
will do an udate soon as its at FMS sorting the boost surge, hopefully once and for all fingers crossed, so far sorted the wastegate button as it wasnt seating perfectly and a small zorst leak, then changed the bleed off jet in the VAG boost solenoid from a 400cc to a 325cc as it bypassed too much air when opened, time will tell i spose
Also fitted a new 46ltr pro alloy fuel cell, think automotive machined billet twin pump filter holder and relocated the battery again in a new alloy holder.
hoping to have it all sorted and running mint to compete for the fwd 1/4's at central day santa pod
quick sneak install pic after tank was mounted,

well its update time again
after a long boring winter i have finally got round to playing round the garage sorting stuff on the car again,
its been back to fms to try another resolve on the boost surge and im putting the car on the rollers this saturday to see if its made any improvements although i know im now running 2bar or boost instead of about 1.5 before, but more on that after the RR session as i dont know if problem is solved yet
Also i wanted a shift around of my battery/fuel set up to take it out of the rear wells and mount it in the middle of the car a little more out of harms way if i was to have a rear end shunt etc, so i ordered my new pro alloy tank as in the pics above, along with a think automotive twin pump and filter bracket and got ryan (car looms uk) to make me up a new pectel style double pump loom which is the nuts and soo much tidier for a bargain price too, so cheers ryan. then i mounted it all up as planned
whilst i was there i added a dry cell varley red top 30 battery for a bit of safety as well and mounted that out the way behind the passenger seat position for better weight distribution,
i p clipped all the aeroquip again and brake lines along with the power cable and its all a million times neater now and im well chuffed with it so here is the pics of the finished result
new car looms uk double fuel pump loom and pumps mounted in holder on rubber bobbins.
new varley red top 30 battery mounted in new style varley alloy bracket with heavy duty circuit breaker
new pro alloy tank and new filler neck etc mounted in new margard rear 1/4 window
all lines re routed and P clipped down nice and secure and neat and all plumbed in so much neater than before, looks the nuts imo
so car has been washed and polished tonite for the 1st time since september lol and is pretty much ready for pod on sunday to hopeflly lay down some blistering times IF the weather is in our favour (fingers crossed)

think its engine out time to go back on the dyno and sort it once and for all!

cheers guys :cool!:
ok another update,
i have finally sorted out my boost surge issue after a few hours today on a friends rolling road with tom & tommy from FMS changing this and that... so im now very happy as there is no surge and its making a nice reliable 273bhp :cool!: dont know why it made so much more power last time as its still running nearly 2bar now but im just happy the surge is sorted
i also had the new rear beam fitted and set up with height adjustable spring platforms and the focus stub axle conversion from RUTLAND PERFORMNCE VEHICLES
heres a few pics of the disc set up
he came across a few problems he didnt expect like the handbrake mechanism fould the shock body but that was resolved by rotating the caliper round the disc so i now sits at 12 'o' clock
stops ok although the pedal is alot softernow it seems? maybe as there more fluid to be moved to operate the piston rather than the old drum cylinder.... im not sure....i bled the rears again just to be sure but the pedal will not get any harder.
and i managed to pick this little toy up, just to keep an extra eye on things as its a bit more accurate than the secs monior and also has the function of blanket fuel & ign adjustment, which is usefull when running a bit of bp102 at a thrash or something to squeeze out a few more bhp to grab that extra 10th of a second.
it also has 7 channel data logging facilities which could be handy. and fault detecting screen.
looking forward to fiesta in the park to show the car off again with its new layout etc, and i might have my new hose set up and dry break fittings all in the car by then but im not 100% as im a bit skint now :blub:
heres a taster of what they look like tho
jiffy tite dry break fittings for tank/pump/filter/fuel rail etc
and all aeroquip in the car will be changed for these pro gold fittings and pro gold nomex braided hose
much lighter/no vapour leakage as tfe lined/better bend radius/easier to assemble but fcuking expensive :blub:
think thats all for now folks....
:cool!:

WELL.
after 6 1/2 years building this car up to the legend it was i finally sold the very last part of the car today
for those that are interetsed i broke the car for a grand total of........£15,744
so it wasnt too bad considering i sold alot of stuff cheaper than i should of but i didnt want to be stuck with parts for months on end.
im pretty sure it will be a long long time before i forget about the old girl and her blistering performance and impressive spec etc but it is time to have a break from the moddifying car scene for a while and enjoy a bit of comfort and care free motoring
her best results....
0-60 in 5.1 seconds
0-100 in 10.1 seconds
top speed 150.9mph
1/4 mile in 12.6 seconds @ 116mph
first mk2 xr2 to ever officially break the 150mph barrier and the 1st & only mk2 xr2 to date to ever grace the cover of performance ford
R.I.P (although she is already running with her new owner and looking awesome )
where she spent most of her time and my all time favourite pic
BEST MK2 XR2 EVER...............

I remember seeing this on the A127 once, i think you was on your way to Ford Fair and had stopped at the gas station on the Fortune of War roundabout.
Couldnt help but stare at the car id read so much about in PF only a few weeks before.
Stunning car mate, it was an incredible display of effort, well done.
Wishing you all the best with whatever you choose to do here on
