12.6 second XR2T------THE END------
PLEASE BE PATIENT AS THERE ARE ABOUT 180 PHOTOS
my project has been completed for a while now (until new engine & management) but ive only just had the photos scanned to my pc,,,,
i took photos all the way through from when i bought it to now, all done at home with help from freinds & family,, except spraying which is beyond me,
ive lost a few pics so there are some gaps in progress & its not step by step detailed but still an interesting view in my opinion so i hope you enjoy looking as much as i enjoyed building her
this is the car when i first bought it
i started to strip it down to see what she was like underneath the kit then commce standard xr2 engine removel
some rust from spillages over the years from rear washer bottle
rust on osr arch
with engine out bay prepping started
after some more cutting & welding to allow or rst downpipe clearance on crossmember then some more priming the engine bay was painted
ive lost some pics so its a bit sketchy but most are here,,, lol
the rs turbo engine i fitted was stripped down checked, cleaned & fitted with all new gaskets & seals plus alot of other new ancillaries
after fitting the engine & getting it up & running i drove it around for a year in stealth mode (no kit, yellow door, black bonnet & alloys) it was quite funny cos it looked like a pile of shit from the outside but with a bling engine bay & it went like a rocket,, lol
then it was time for the rest of the body work to be sorted
it even got a picture in PERFORMANCE FORD looking this way,,,pmsl
body work realy begins now
[img:]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/CHICKAROO/120.jpg[/img]
& finally here she is painted & when i picked her up in april 2004,, BIG THANKS TO GARY, SMIT & ALL THE OTHER BOYS AT SUPREME MOTOR BODIES (01268 764684)
& HERE SHE IS AS SHE STANDS NOW 8 MONTHS LATER WITH A FEW MORE MODIFICTIONS
[img:]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v104/CHICKAROO/DSC_1768.jpg[/img]
bought these wheels or it which arent fitted as yet but have been photoshoped onto car
I FOR 1 CAN APRECIATE ALL THE TIME & EFFORT THAT US ENTHUASIASTES PUT INTO OUR CARS & FOR THE SAKE OF 1 PERSON SAYING THEY LOVE WHAT I HAVE DONE WITH THE CAR MAKES IT ALL WORTHWILE
THANK YOU ALL FOR LOOKING,,
regards

right its been a while but its time to start the upgrading already,,,
just a few mods here, some more serious than others but all important,,
1st up i was getting sick of the standard xr2 steering wheel ,,,,so found a nice upgrade at the beds track day,,,, here is the 1 i chose 8)
almost matches the colour of the car perfectly
next up it is time to sort out the brakes they have been standard since the conversion was carried out & there are & have always been,,,,,SHITE, so i bought these off the board to sort the situation,,
but they are not yet fitted as i could not find my set of allen keys for the bolts so they will hopefully be fitted this weeknd ,,,,
now for the serious mod
as many people know , running a turbo car,,eg, escort, fiesta etc with decent power,, they have a tendancy for destroying engine mounts
this end up with the nightmare situation ive had before where you dont just do the mount but end up needing a new rad, (as the actuator goes through the cores),,, and a fooking dent in the bonnet from the charge carrier
i was talking to a mate about this problem,,,, and he runs a 420bhp rear wheel drive turbo mini (soon to be 600bhp on new engine with gas)
anyway he had this problem all the time trying to run 400+bhp on uprated vibra technics mounts etc
so he designed & fabricated a new mount incorpated in a cylinder sleeve which is welded to the gearbox bracket,,, you will see in the pics what i mean,,,,
it is no more harsh a tickover than on vibra t mounts,, but it does vibrate alot,, but gives the car a very solid race feel,,,,
but the main thing is with this design (mount/cradle) i will NEVER brake another mount again unless the welds on the cradle brake which is highly unlikely, so thats good enough for me
a few pics just to give you an idea as to the design (sorry about the quality)
OLD STYLE CRADLE/MOUNT
NEW STYLE CRADLE/MOUNT
thats it for now,,,,,
but the cossie management is almost all sourced now
just looking into the new engine, gearbox, turbo,,head,,
il post when more is modded
