xr2 rear bems are a 1 piece solid fixed beam, so allow no adjustment for camber/toe. so rutland chop the beam in half and weld flange plates in the middle then put angled pre cut alloy discs in between,.....as you turn the 2 discs it changes the camber/toe of the beam

im sure there will be a sutable time for a passenger ride mate

well its finally time for a bit of a rest for the little xr2..........

its been a busy year for me with the car in terms of getting things sorted and making sure the car gets noticed and lives up to the expectations everybody (including myself) has about it

its been an expensive year thats for sure as it always is for everyone modding these fords but i am very happy with the cars progress so far to say the least

i have just done the cars second thrash last week which was great fun along with 1 the previous month which was just as fun although it had better weather lol,

the car is I THINK in the top five of all time (from what info i have read in the mags/web & on here etc) for 0-60, 0-100 and 1/4 mile for a fwd 1600 cvh turbo and at present is the fastest mk2 xr2 there is and the top end hasnt even been mapped

see what i can do over the winter to improve these times i think,

look out for next months fast ford & performance ford

Marc, not sure if I have ever commented on here, if I haven't then I'm sorry, but I just wanted to say that this car is an absolute credit to you. I just looked again at the pics on page 1 and the transformation is astounding, along with your attention to detail. Couple all this with the amazing performance and you have one truly awesome Ford.

Hoping to be able to join in with the big boys of FWD.

Your car is looking sweet mate, i spoke to you about it at ford fair this year and some of what i saw then and heard from you has urged me on to finish mine and push it to a decent level, Thanks.

little update

the featre for the random thrash i had for FAST FORD is now out in the shops to buy

so thought i would scan it in for you all to see if you havent already

it was a good day with good weather and i was more than happy with the times it made, although on the day the gearbox did sh*t itself and cost me 2 driveshafts in the process and an awful lot of messy grease everywhere

front cover

write up

as you can see the times were good but there is still room for iimrovement, some times have already improved since this thrash but which i hope to better further next year for sure, the car is really starting to settle in and show its full capabilities .

so in all im well chuffed with the write up, sums the car up perfectly i think

also i got my uprated rear anti roll bar and rose jointed drop links through from RUTLAND PERFORMANCE VEHICLES

Heres is a few pics of the items

roll bar, uprated 26mm bar with 5 x settings for stiffness

rose jointed adjustable drop links

how they will mount to the bar

the adjustment holes on the bar are roughly as follows

nearest to bar = 2 x original stiffness
furthest from bar = 5 x original stiffness

i will get this fitted over the next month or so when my other new beam has been made as i have now decided to have another beam made with adjustable rear spring platforms for ride height as coilovers on the rear was going to be too expensive and too much fabrication

the new rear beam will be a set up similar to this which consists of a coilover style threaded tube reinforced and welded in place of the old spring platforms, giving me adjustable height on the rear (obviously my beam will not be same kind as 1 pictured below)

thats all for now people

i think 5th gear let go as it seemed like it tried to lock the wheels up at about 130mph but obviously that werent gonna appen so the joints on the shafts let go and spun splitting all 4 boots and creating a cv grease bomb

cheers for the comments people

small update for you people that are interested

car has been sorn since the brands track day so fook all actually done lol, but more goodies are being made as we speak

the car is going in on monday to have the rear arches trimmed up to allow a little more room so should have NO rubbing issues at bedford and passenger rides shouldnt be a problem as im back on a 195/45/15 profile tyre (AVON ACB10) so thats that sorted

my new height adjustable rear beam will not be ready for bedfors tho as im having another mod done to it as well now it will now also be running focus stub axles when finished as they carry a stronger bearing, are a bolt on replacement if damaged rather than new beam, and allow direct bolt on fitment of cheap easily accessable focus/fiesta st disc set ups so pics of that whens it all done

Also after speaking to tony (NUTS RuS) alot lately (thanks mate) about various safety issues concerning wet cell acid battery's and where my fuel cell/pumps are positioned i am having a re design of my fuel and battery set up/system, this will include the following,

NEW RE POSITIONED RED TOP 30 BATTERY AND TRAY/STRAPS

NEW FUEL CELL AND RE POSITIONING OF CELL

NEW FUEL PUMP/FILTER LAYOUT

also on the list of things i have bought and to be done includes.......

re-inforing plates for all 6 cage mounting points (possable new weld in cage soon)

new longer studs and open (straight through) nuts for added turns/safety

new front and rear springs

fit new uprated rear anti roll bar

re run battery wires etc

battery cut off switch

thinks thats all for now,

may be having the car rolling roaded saturday at a new place in basildon essex with a dyno dynamics rolling road as im at bedford on 2nd of feb for the trackday and its a good way of getting it checked over etc beforehand, so possibly have a graph to post up soon

boost surge still not sorted tho so boost will be a bit all over the show for the graph/run but think were gonna change the rear housing after bedford to stop it once and for all

OH' and i treated myself to a nice new toolbox as well last weekend

its the dogs danglies......

pics when stuff gets fitted etc
