I've owned my connect from new (2005) and would like to know if it's possible to fit the engine and running gear from the Focus ST170. I believe the Connect is Focus based so would the swap be a simple one? Would the whole wiring loom from ST need to be transfered?

I suppose the best bet would be to pm BIG.GEOFF.H as he has done a couple of Focus RS engine conversions, maybe he can give you pointers or even fit the engine and loom etc.

i think that the engine and front suspension items should drop straight on, but the rear is a beam if im not mistaken, so you would not be able to use st170 items there obviously...

Easy to do as above its all focus up front any way so u can fit that in no problem i changed every thing on mine and fitted discs to the rear beam and has all the abs on it as well if you need any info ring me on 01204 521850 and ask for geoff

well not hard just a lot of thinking lol

yes not to bad we fitted the full loom and moddified it in a few places as the connect rear light loom runs onder the van so we joined it behind the seats and run it throgh the floor and modded the central locking as well other than that it all went in fine

Do it mate, definately worth getting a complete donor car for the conversion as you will need most of it!

I've seen one or two ST170s for around £1500, so with the sale of my existing engine (£600 ish) It shouldn't cost the earth.
