I think you need to modify the bulk head to fit air con to a 3 door (something I read on another thread)
Did you get my pm btw?

Yes I have used your beam. The Escos diff mount is stiffer than the Sierra version.

the 909 shells used the standard saff bulkhead not the air con version

To use the ford a/c system you need to cut out and weld in the deeper section of bulkhead from an ac car for the matrix to fit, or try to find an earlier non factory dealer fit sierra ac set up which will fit the standard bulkhead.

Also you wont be able to use a normal 500 size cooler will the ford ac rad unless you use the boxter ac rads in the wheel wells instead

Looked into it a while ago, even bought a xr4x4 with ac as a donor but not worth the hassle in the end and sold it on

Can be done but not easy.

Do you have any pictures of the air con bulkhead? If I have to weld in the deeper bulkhead part then nows the time to do it!

I'm aware of the intercooler problem but that won't be too difficult to sort.

no pics sorry

if you look at your existing bulkhead there is a little indent running along where the heater fan box sits in the engine bay, on the ac bulkhead this part forms a little box which protrudes into the cabin area, this is to accomodate the extra depth of the heater fan and a/c box.

It would be easy enough to cut out and fabricate a new section if you could not find an a/c bulkhead as thats the only part thats different.

Best to find a a/c box from a saff ,it does not have to be from a cosworth and use that to determine the size. The rest of the set up is the same as the a/c system from an escos

You also need the heater fan switch from an a/c saff and the loom plug as that covers both functions

yes some pics on that thread do show where the bulkhead needs to be opened

Had a hunt on my pc and found a pic of the a/c fan box that replaces the basic fan box, as you can see its a lot bigger, it bolts like the standard one to the 2 captured bolts on the bulkhead and sits no further forward than the standard one, so all the extra size goes back into the bulkhead.

The rear beam, shocks and springs are all fitted as are the fuel lines.. Anyone got an Escos diff mount I can buy??

Hopefully this week will see the engine and front suspension installed.

Chris the paint guy has started stripping the front bumper, it ooks like its going to be a hard slog as the black paint peels off in strips but under that there is what appears to be polyester spray filler that seems to be half a mm thick in places :-(

I checked everything in the workshop that was going to get replaced and all the cars/ diffs have Sierra mounts, yours included. Thanks though.

I took that one out of a saff so the escos one could well be the same then which would be a bonus for you, just need to line it up and chop out and box up a section of the bulkhead.

There are some brand new sierra a/c dryers on ebay for sale for only Ł7 plus post which is buttons, so you could make a fresh system easy enough from escos bits and just find the sierra a/c fan switch and it would look factory.

I know of at least 2 original RS500s with dealer fit a/c but they keep the original heater fan and place the a/c evaporator inside the car above the heater matrix but I dont know how efficient this system was.

to get air con fitted mate you need to have the bulkhead panel that the ac unit sits in
you can find a granda panel much easier but, as the pic show, the unit is much much larger and intrudes into the interiour a lot more

i think i've got a unit if you need one, boxed and bagged up, but it's from a granada so the connections will be slightly different to the sierra

the sierra ones also have the bigger ball thing in the corner behind the battery for the recycle system, this one has the unit built into the heater casing so doens't take up as much space

Not sure he is but he's not saying ANYTHING! The more I dig into my paid for paint job the less happy I am. Deal with companies that have money in the bank not one man bands, they have no contingency for mistakes on big jobs... Learn from my mistakes!!!

right ill tell you exactly whats gone on shall i martin

it is not the primer that has caused this at all and ill tell your painter that my self if i have to

its this simple (primer is porous)it does not hold the solvent in it just needs to hassve long enough to dry full
nor has it got water in it as my compressor has the best air quality possible if it was down to primer why have i never had the problem before

it is exactly how i said it was and down to the glasurit black
it has had enough solvent trapped in it to nattack the primer simple as that
iv now heard of 2 other people that have had problems with glkasurit black (not just me)

your bumpers where not painted in spray filler but the car had to be to get rid of the ripples in the sides

im persuing compensation from the paint company to try get you a refund in full and ill continue to do this
but if i can help it i aint losing any more money so if they wont sort it ill give you half as aggreed

the reason i havnt been back on here is simple
it pisses me off every thime i see this car as i like things to be right and after all the time and efort spent on this car it turned to shit down to paint product

now iv been doing paint work since i was 13 and im now 28 and this is the first major problem iv had

now all the people on this thread that slagged me off can you tell is your work record that clean

it was 2k glasurit strait black colour and was not watter base or base and clear

the paint would not pollish as it should and i was told it was recomended it by the place i used to work for they do bentleys ferraris all sorts of exotics and are have a realy good name

then i find out they have never used the black and it seems to be the only colour they have trouble with as the rest have no problems at all

now i have found out 2 more companies have had trouble with the black

but if i can help it i aint losing any more money so if they wont sort it ill give you half as aggreed

the reason i havnt been back on here is simple
it pisses me off every thime i see this car as i like things to be right and after all the time and efort spent on this car it turned to shit down to paint product

now iv been doing paint work since i was 13 and im now 28 and this is the first major problem iv had

now all the people on this thread that slagged me off can you tell is your work record that clean
Tbh Jacko it doesn't really matter if its in the primer or the black paint, I still have the same work to get re-done.

If you are offering half back towards the new paint job then lets have it and put this to bed, if the paint company come good then you can always deal with that afterwards.

I will get some pics of the front bumper if you wish, the primer is very very thick in places.
