i would have used a very good brand of base coat an dupont lacquer, reason for base an clear is its easyer polished etc,
i wish you all the best with this car mate hope you an your wife enjoy it once its done

i use allot of water base lol and its crap its easy to use though
water base paint isnt realy any good for stone chips at all as thats why all the focus rs mk1s are easily stone chiped
i try to make cars like they where done origeonaly if marting wanted it base clear then he just had to ask
besides the only reason water base came into wide use was because of environmental reasons not cos it was better while we are at it do you not still put 2k high solid laquer over the water base paint

Dont they use 2k clearcoat over the water base colour?? If so why would that Chip easier than if solvent base coat had have been used and then covered in 2k clearcoat?

i think jacko you should be moveing on to a new line of work , i have seen a escort cosworth with my very own eyes here in northern ireland that you did a full respray on ,( you no the car i mean) and the paint job is pure shite, the car even had to go back to you a very short time after the chap got the car home for you to go over things that should have been right to start with,
buffed through edges is just one of the things that springs to mind.
thanks steven..

cos the paint underneith dosnt stay hard like solvent so the laquer getting hit by a stone has some where to go this chips it
steve
mark only had to say and id have redone anything he wasnt happy with but other than the bonnet edge i cant think of anything other than the flaking paint on the morrets but that was down to selulose paint and they where shockingly hard to try and clean it off but if he isnt happy ill gladly sort it out for him as it can only be small

Lol marco...dont hold back.
Feel for Jacko and Martin... shit happens.
Having seen my own car in a million piece's I thought i'd never see the day it would be finished, but its came out very well.
Sure when yours is painted it will lift your spirits.
Look forward to updates
