Having a bit of a bad day today I have had to have the bonnet vents (too much stuff in the paint to polish out), petrol cap (again poo in the paint and polished through next to barrel), mirror heads (paint peeling off) and grille (polished through paint next to Ford logo) re painted but have just found out that the front bumper now needs re doing too as there is lots of micro blistering on the one side caused by water under the paint. One step forward two steps back!

Yes he did and maybe I should have asked him but he's nearly 200 miles away and there is no way I'm sending the front bumper by carrier so have decided to pay someone local (200 yrds away) to sort it.

I would have thought that due to the profile of the car/you he would have taken care of it totally!

Oh well sure it will be sweet when done

I'm sure he would have if asked but given the distance thing I thought local would be best.

I would have thought so but if it was painted first thing and before before the panel had a chance to warm up then bingo water under the paint.

Know how you feel Martin, as you know the paint on my car is not good either.
Just puts a downer on the whole car when you pay good money to have a job done.

Sure you will get it sorted though mate.

That is my biggest worry but I have loked and nothing shows yet, I wouldn't mind betting that the bumper was painted at a different time to the rest of the car so hopefully just the bumper has a problem.

Martin why did you pick Jacko when there appears to be a half decent paint shop next door?

Was he keen on the job due to the profile of the car?

My original paint shop was next door but they closed down, the other people are at the end of the drive and never really expressed an interest in doing my shonky old Fords.

I can't really remember how I came to have Jacko paint it, I think I pm'd him.

Ok, back on track with the thread....

A new bulk pack of sound deadening has landed, If I run out this time there is no way I'm buying more! I have weighed a pack and it weighs in at 18kg so if I use both packs the car will weigh in at 36kg heavier, if the car is quieter then that will be a small price to pay

New side repeater landed from an Irish Ford dealership this morning I now have a new pair. I originally thought they were the same as Escorts but although the look similar the holes in the wing are totally different.

I have to say that Ford's parts stock for these cars is nothing short of horrendous, when I did my BMW every part I asked for was available and not at a premium price either.

realy gutted tyo hear this martin its a bit of a shitter but the blisters aint down to watter thatr im sure of it is down to the fact that it has solvent trapped in the paint from previous coats and the reason it is only on plastics is that the heat difference between them and the plastics if these aint been redone yet then get them to paint them but not bake it let it cure on its own

what people on this thread dont realise isd its actually been painted 3 times and that is the majority of why it took so long

the first time it was painted the paint suplied would not pollish back up after being flatted and that wasnt down to me at all but i had to cover the cost of this and the next lot of paint and materials to do it again
the second time it wasnt quite up to scratch and it needed a few bits redone so i decided to do the whole thing again this is when it sat for quite a while without getting touched ffor one reason and one reason only that the previous coats of paint would not be fully cured but even the length of time it was left has not done its job and this has caused the blistering

now i do beleave its down to me to sort and im more than willing to do so but martin has chossen to use some one else and that is his choice and i dont knock him for ether way he decided this and i dont want to fall out with him in anny way over this but what all the slatting people on here dont know is this car has now left me about 3k out of pocket due to doing extra work me paying to have it picked up and delivered back to him plus painting it 3 times

Hi Jacko,

Sorry for all this grief We had a good look at the blistering and it does appear to be water (or something) under the last coat of paint, I can actually move a blister about using the edge of my nail.

Just so you know, the reason why I didn't get the rectification work done by yourself was due to the distance between us .... If you were local I would have got you to sort it.

Cheers,

Martin.
