Chip according to Nick at Hill Power (Derbyshire) 4-1 cast exhaust manifold from the 1.8 16v flows better at the top end compared to the tubular Williams manifold when h done tests/trials on them years ago. I'm pretty sure my mate has one in his garage from an old Clio valver, he'll not want anything for it if youre interested, i'll have a word next time i see him.

Took it out for a proper rag yesterday, really liking the handling considering how little ive spent on it, but the handbrake is fucking shite, it just doesnt spin it around at all.
Decided to pop up the pub with it and meet my mate Jason, we then went out for a bit of a drive, he was (like myself) distinctly underwhelmed at the power as he's more used to his ITR DC2, but even against that he was also pretty impressed with the handling considering the cost of the car.
Sadly though, the gearbox is now in pieces, all the cogs are sounding fucking awful, and there is almost no drive at all, had to very gingerly limp it back to my place from about 20 miles away!
So going to take the box out of it today and then need to source a new one in a serious fucking hurry as only time home again Ive got before combe is a bit of a next saturday and a bit of next sunday.
So really need a box by then or I wont be doing castle combe in it

Hi Chip. Got a few parts for sale at the minute just to let you know...
F7R A700 2.0 williams engine (head with the 33mm inlets, the long stroke block, inlet, starter motor as its smaller to fit the large water vein F7R block. (this will shock you in regards to power. capable of sub 14.5 1/4's thats for sure)
Gunner Chipped ECU (Williams ECU with an increased limiter and slightly increased fueling). This chip dates back some what and the generic map was pinched from chipwizards who charged £420 to chip and rolling road the map lol limit cut 7200rpm instead of 6500rpm
JC5 Williams Gearbox (circlips pop out of the JB3's for a pass time = FAIL!)
16v bonnet, 16v wings, doors
..... The handbrake doesnt spin it around at alll.... It has rear brake disc's, I dont know any Clio 16v/williams that "hand brake turns" people go hydraulic if they want to use the handbrake

Ive just found a complete 1.8 16v engine and box for sale relatively local (well 2.5 hours away, lol) so going to collect that tomorrow and whack that box in for now.
How much do you want for the willy engine and box though, might be good for future use as I can see me keeping the car a while.

Yes, stock rev limit on williams engine 6500rpm, stock 1.8 16v limit 7000rpm (some say 7200 but its not). The williams engine is MUCH better, non of this flat output crap where nothing happens. Open to offers

Well, if Chip wants to be passenger in JGX with this stock williams engine to experience the F7R "less flat" power delivery he can feel free....Or he can just come out in 245bhp of n/a power, definitly not flat lol no seriously, the stock lump is good for the B1N!

.... Chip, get a heat gun out and remove the tar from the floor... Remove rear wiper arm and motor and plug it with a grommet... I also modify the engine mount stabiliser dog bones. A renault 19 front engine mount (or 4th mount) is a very good buy too

245bhp and probably less than 200lbft still sounds pretty flat to me TBH ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Fairly productive day to day, have just got back in.
Got the old gearbox out this afternoon.
Got spare 16v engine now, which later on I can low-comp I guess.
More importantly I have got the box too, fucking hell sometimes I forget how big the southwest of england is, 280 mile round trip, thats not far off how far it is to west london and back.

Yeah anything turbo'd would be fine mate.
All sorted now and driving fine again.
Took about 2-3 hours to take apart.
6 hours to go into deepest cornwall and fetch
4-5 hours to put back together including tidying up a few other jobs on the way.
So basically two days labour in total, and a cost of 160 quid (35 in fuel and 25 for new gearbox oil)
Not really the end of the world considering it was the clutch and box fucked.
Pretty happy with how that turned out considering.

First trackday is combe this saturday, say hi if anyone sees me there.
If I have an empty passenger seat feel free to jump in and be underwhelmed at its straight line pace

Local renault breakers to me has loads of clio 172 engines and gearboxes etc for sale chip if you're ever intersted. Pretty sure my mate got quoted 250 quid for the engine when he was thinking about putting one in Warleypete's old 5.

Will bear it in mind, im in no rush to change the engine though TBH, the point of this car is to have something cheap and simple that doesnt take too much of my time away from my other projects and I can just chuck it round a track and not be too bothered about being the fastest, instead of going out in Rob's astra and playing with martin hadland, I had just as much fun playing with dougie's 2.0 16v cavalier and neil in the fast ford puma.
Its all relative
