with all that work done to it beef/special k/the others would it not be worth relocating the battery to the boot or is it to keep the whole "stock" look?

also, with the front panel now removed, is it work hooking up some later spec headlights that would allow you to see where you were going in the dark rather than relying on candle powerd originals?

but other than that it's all looking like it's coming along nicely

trust you to ask them questions lol

the battery tray is 50-50 re loaction at the mo , considerd putting it in the boot , but have to make room in there for a spare and a suitable sized spare wheel ,

+ its part of keeping the stock " factory fit look "

as for thre headlights, its got to have mk 3 lights,

im sure gus got a hid kit for his , should sort that prob out

Don't like it on 18s bud . Some 9x17 back and 8x17 front would look best IMO

what would you know lol !!!

they look small from wayy up there lol

18s look fat mate , the fact the sidewall on them 888s is tall make them look like tractor tyres ,

im sure with thin profile tyres it will look better than the pics,

just have to look at shifys or ritchies to know 18s rule !!

  • floorpans condition
  • level of finish you want ( i,e weld it in and seal in red , or weld ,seal,flat/linish ,re coat, seal ,primer ,)
  • what rear end you plan to fit

theres a few other minor factors , like whos cutting the donor up ect ,

if its a serious intrest ,ill speak to karl and work out a rough price ,

drop me a pm or better yet speak to me @ central day lol , hes fully booked up for work till around april anyway lol !!

Cheers for that beefy, I'll definately try and find you at central day for a chat and a passenger ride when yours is complete:

beef, back to the headlights for a min then

can you find some proper oem fitment xenon lights and then fit them into the escort headlights?

look at fitting soemthing from the likes of a bmw or the like as they seem to have them fitted as standard and don't seem to go for a lot of money

Beefy - will the escort now have the Sierra's reg plate? Do you have to get it checked out by the SVA peeps or engineers report before going for an MOT?

Good work! Keep the photos coming!

I'm surprised it'll be on the Escort ID because most of the car is the Sierra. Different parts are given points when a car is stolen as to wether it retains it's ID or goes ona Q plate. I would have thought the car will have mostly points from the Sierra ie. engine, chassis, gearbox and running gear.

Hi nick as to your qeustion IF the car needs these checks which i dont think it does then myself and beef will take it... Its not classed as a kit car as it has been built from 2 factory shells which were built on a production line hence not a kit.

not matter what paper work you have, and whether you have both car id's log books, keys and original bill of sale the car would go on a q regardless, its all changed now,

Any cut/modification to any part of the suspension mounting or bulkhead means the car automatically goes to a q plate.

Ive looked into it for my fiesta cosworth, hence im not getting one done unless im forced to as it will be put on a q exactly the same as this would b im afraid.

I will just take mine for mot as normal, get it taxed as normal and get an AA inspection to prove engine is fitted to an exceptable standard etc so i can change the log book to 1997cc engine size or whatever the cossie lump is. And if i was to ever get any grief from Vosa etc and im forced to sva i have no worry's about it passing so i will deal with that if and when

The car has some of the sierra floor pan not all sierra the back is escort as 70/80% of the shell plus the cars shape is an escort why would you put it on a sierra id and plate... K

evidently not mate, from what i read earlier in the year they are basically just putting everything they see on a q unless its a new factory supplied kit car going for its first plate,

its not sva now its called IVA, but its a difficult language to read there is so many exclusions and variation of meanings, hence why i will not be putting mine forward unless i have to as although its not the end of the world i dont want a q plate,

Scoring components

The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
  • chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
  • suspension = 2 points
  • axles = 2 points
  • transmission = 2 points
  • steering assembly = 2 points
  • engine = 1 point

Where there is evidence that two vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie 'cut and shut') a 'Q' mark will be allocated, IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA will be required.

im with mk on this one ,

ill deal with it when it comes to it lol ,

my plan was to take it for an mot , if its pulled in anyway shape or form IT WILL got for a iva

ive nothing to hide about the car , if it was a cut n shit or a ringer i certainly wouldnt of put a fook off big resto thread up about it lol ,

tbh if the shit hit the fan and they made me put it on a Q then cool ,

imho if either mine , mk's or anyone elses project got put on a q it WOULDNT TAKE ANYTHING AWAY from any of out projects ,

tbh, if the only thing folk are looking at when its built id my reg ,

me and karl have done something seriously fucking wrong pmsl !!
