ill throw it to spesh in the am ,
only worry i have is that i dont have the full width of the cossie bulkhead ,it was slimmed down to meet the mk 3 section ,
saying that i can fit a stock heater box in on the cos mounts ?
and the panel would just weld in behind yeah ginge ??
i see some parts being borrowed for a mock up
wenn , would it fit behind a s2 dash ?

look at martoons rs500 thread about how to retro fit air con mate
as long as you have enough space for the standard ford sierra heater box them it's not an issue![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
you can also get the bits from a granada and if you get a later spec one, 92 onwards, the recirc mechanicals take up less sapce as it's all self contained, but you can bin that if you don't need it and free up some space for the wiper motor

spoke to karl eairler , hes 50-50 on the air con , as he recons space will be an issue ,
obv neither of us have had much experience with aircon units ect ,
i planned on using a sierra heaterbox incar, as this area is stock , and cos airbox ,fan thing on top
k didnt reckon it would fit behind a s2 dash like......
hummmm ,

much appriceated mart , i take it the section that sits in the engine bay dosent protrude further towards the engine , more rather bk into the bulkhead ?
personally i reckon it would fit looking at that , maybe when k see's this he could be swayed ,
still doesnt answer my questions regards how to pipe the vents and the controls ?

quick google revealed this
The Escort Mark IV came in early 1986, with only a small amount of changes. Codenamed within Ford as "Erika–86", it was instantly recognisable as an updated version of the previous model, with a smooth style nose and the "straked" rear lamp clusters smoothed over. Optional new features included a mechanical anti‐lock braking system (standard on RS Turbo models), a fuel computer on fuel injected models, and a heated windshield. However, the check-light system for low fuel, low oil, low coolant, low screenwash, and worn out brake pads was no longer fitted to any model. Air conditioning was not available on cars sold in Europe although it was an option on cars sold in Brazil. In 1987, an LX trim designation was introduced which was situated between the L and GL models.
anyone got a mate in brazil lol

beef, i think you are getting a bit confused mate
the "heater" on the sierra's is inside the car but the aircon gubbins sit in front of the fan in an enclosed unit, the bit for the air con therefore does it's thing before it hits the heater, hence the big lump of metal protruding into the cabin
make sure that you have everything ready to trial fit as this internal panel needs to line up with the outside bit for it to seal etc correctly
i might have soem bits and bobs laying about but from memory you need about 15 inches worth of space to get it to fit

so lil bot done last night and this eve, not alot on the grand scale but its all go to be sorted , k's had his daughters this wknd so not alot of time spent in garage
anyway
got on with removal of the last of the old front panel
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11002.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11003.jpg)
so we could attend to these sections where the cos inner wing meets the last of the mk 3 inner wing
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11004.jpg)
you can see where they were tackwelded together when we first fitted the floorpan
some sections were measured and folded
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11006.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11007.jpg)

and for cutch- with refrence to our conversation the other afternoon mate
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11011.jpg)
see the cresent ?
and with the bits welded in
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11012.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11013.jpg)
other side
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11014.jpg)
the full inner wings will be skimmed and smoothed ,
steering rack and colum mods
as in the previous post the colum had been fitted and clearance to the brake assembly , but needs and additional support making up ,
bit this needed the rack in postion , so it was pulled from the garage
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11015.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11017.jpg)
now the coloum im using was removed from the cos s2 , so its already been modded , but as the s2 ran a 4x4 setup , im sure the uj arrangement is shorter than a 2wd
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11018.jpg)
anyway that will be cut to suit ,
offerd the colum bk in and gauged the height for now , ( dash will be refitted , with cowl and a steering wheel )
anyway ,with it being late and no use of power tools allowed karls mocked up the bracketry in card , it will be cut and folded tomorrow ( update on that when it happens )
so with that done , and us paying a visit eairler in the day up to wennys ,
spotted something sat in the corner of the garage , and a quick fonecall to warren kelly ( owner of the time attack escos ) saw me running out the unit with a big fat 18 x 9j " 888 " shod alloy wheel lol![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
much appriceated mate !!!
so seemed rude not to try it in lol
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11020.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11021.jpg)
obv it set in the arch to clear the inner lip as it would when launching ,
now i know 888s are quite square with there sidewalls ,
but fuck me it looks " FAT "
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11022.jpg)
and a few pics on the inner clearance side
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11023.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11024.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11025.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11027.jpg)
and a view vertiaclly up the inner tyre , the hole is the o.e mk three turret that was topped
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11028.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11029.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11031.jpg)
now we had a conflab , and as much as the aim was to run 10j rears , its going to be tight , its the front of the inner arch that looses clearance really ,
now i know it could be down to that sidewall profile , and that if we push the wheel out and with thin tyres blah blah , it may go ,
but tbh 9's are plenty wide, they fit without hacking the outer or inner quarter lips to bits , so the kit can be fitted correctly and not just bonded on , and it also means i can but a set of staggerd bbs ch's off the shelf in 8 fronts 9 rears ,
i may look into 10s further down the line , but for now with 9s it means the turrets should be able to go in as where happy with the height and now we know we can put them were we had them mocked and we have suitable clearances ,
and with that done , and it getting late, i slung a battery in the battery tray and offerd it into the bay ,
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11034.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11035.jpg)

![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update-beef-27-11037.jpg)
plan is to use a mk 3 battery tray , but fit in on an angle simlar to a cossie o.e batt tray ,
needs a little tweaking but plenty of room for a stock size battery and the front corner dosent protrude much past the inside edge of the turret so tray to inlet shouldnt be an issue ,
so yeah , lil bit done , more to come tommorrow or no doubt monday
