Looking shit hot Beefy a real credit to all concernd ,
However i have one question for you and it may be a daft one
What with you sealing the rear arches up,Do you think its close to where the turrets have to be welded in? i just thought what with the heat generated off the m i g it might damage the sealer and you'll have to dig it out and start again? Or am i missing something what with it being 1030 at night

no mate your entirely right on that one ,
its the same reason why the rear wasnt put in primer ,
basically untill we get the rear end setup and the height of the coilovers correct we cant fit em
if its a case of a bit of sealer removal then thats fine , but as theres a chance wthe car will be going bk to my garage for a while untill the rear end parts are sorted
so id rather it was in there to so any possible water ingress and well once id started ,
id forgot lol

ok folks , busy day today , some major issues tackled and today was prob on of the best days for me ,
so far lol ,
so first off , rear seat pan area done ,
as we chopped all the rear ect in previous updates theres two sections that sit either side of the fuel tank hump to act as bracing for the seat base , to they were trimmed by k and re fitted
pics ,
so with that done , attention was turned to three vital and key areas to the project ,
the pedal assembly , the steering colum , and the wiper assembly . so lets do them one at a time ,
first off the peadal assembly was fitted , strait forward enough as its a sierra pb in a sierra floor
but with everything , lol its not fit n forget as you can see theres two switch mounts on the assembly , wich would clash with the colum ,
have no fear , beef is here
and with the offending item removed
also removed the lug mounted on the pedal arm
that was then refitted
and with the colum fitted we had clearance but the bracket on the colum tube was catching the ped arms
so its removed
at the spotwelds , so it can be refitted higher up the colum
so nows there plenty of room , for the tube
so with a stock mk 3 colum mount bracket bolted on to the o.e mount bolts in the mk 3 bulkhead section , a quick nosy revaled
its wayy over to the center of the car , not good i hear you saw
and youd be right
so spesh got his thinking finger out
and a plan of attack was made ,
first off the mount was marked up and a guide line for the cut
it was then eyed up from the rear and tacked
now its at this point , k's attention to detail and ocd really came into play , rember this is a bracket that will be completley hidden behind the dashboard
so , with the bracket tacked in position
k set to work on it , now it was never going to be allowed to be just welded together likee that now was it !!
so k made some cuts ,
note the two chunks of metal cut off the bracket
he then re shaped the left side
rember the chunk cut out
hard at it
both the chunks refitted to the rhs now lol
bit of weld
dyna file and bit of smoothing
taaaaaa dahhhhhh
proof its the same bracket
and the finished article
thats known as a gen ford mk 3 cosworth steering colum mount part no : rss1cos234-5678
and with it refitted its put the colum where we want it
colum to pedal much tighter
factory aint the word , its completely anal on a ocd scale of 100000000000000000 lol , but i fucking love it !!!!
so after a bit of giggling and a brew , attention turned to this
the bulkhead - wiper area ...
fisrt off , cos wiper mount removed
now before i go any further id like to say researching this project ive looked at wiper motors alot on cars ect and theres genrally three routes ,
1. leave the stock mk 3 bulkhead in and mk 3 wiper , peice the cos tunnel in below the mk 3 section
2. full custom wiper - not usually done, more flat plate bent to hold motor and modded linkage
3 . put full cos bulkhead in and modify the wiper assembly using parts of a fiesta and cossy set up .
whilst theres nowt wront with either of the setups , the latter two genrally means the wiper motors mounted tight to the left of the heater box assembly ,
not very factory i hear you say , and we like factory lol ,
so with the brake resi bk in , we offerd the stock mk 3 wiper plate and motor in .................. not a chance !!
couldnt even get it in position so i too a pic of the linkage in position and how the motor would sit as standard
like so
so after ten min of bouncing ideas ect and trying to rotate the motor clockwise ect to make it sit right , we had an idea
why not use the cossie motor we had and retro fit it to the mk 3 assembly
spot the difference ??
my fingers on the mk 3 motor ...
yep the motor head is the opposite way
and with it offerd into position and it rubbing on the resi slightly , it was moved upand right in the hole and some new 8mm holes drilled
and how the motor now sits
below
powerd it up with a battery charger ,and checked the throw of the linkage
its tight but clears
so k clearanced it with a dynafile
powerd it up and let it run , no issues with clearance
fair bit of room below
few shots of the look in the bay
i love the way the mk 3 wiper bracket flows with the brake bottle
plenty of clearnce with the bonnet ,
k decided as this mounts redundant , it can go and he will fold up the lip to make it look stock
but what about the servo pump thingy beef ??? ......i hear you say !!
yup we refitted it
luvvly jubbly !! ,
but it clashed with the wiper assembly by 5 mm
no probs , just space it from the unit
out machined 10mm spacer
so all the wiper needs is a pair of tapped m8 tubes welding at the correct height to bolt wiper to and its done , but they will go in after the hole on the bulkhead is buttoned up tomorrow ,
so with what i said before this section , i think this is the first time the problems been solved this way ,
its straitforward , simple , effective , and the motor can be hidden with a factory cover ,
and most of all it looks a factory fit
so with 3 of the major hurdles taken car of in around 4 hrs , we decided that was enough for one day lol ,
and we had run out of choccy biccys
so ........... great day - well chuffed -

but yours sits were your heater box , would if u had one ,
and i have one lol so we put it over the other side, as said mate its 6 of 1 and half dozen of the other ,
lol nae bother buddy , good trip ?
billy added me on fb , just going to send him a link to the thread

we considerd it for a while mate , but be a bit more tricky with not using the full sierra bulkhead ,
did consider a aftermarket kit like they use in kit cars ect,
but tbh , for all the aggrivation of fitting ect , and it only being a summer toy
we decided to just wind the window down lol
plus even if i had all the bits now i doubt k want to re cut up the bulkhead lol
dont tell me you got a full aircon kit !!

hat off to you mate , thanks for reading ,
:king :
dont say that lol, i havent got the foggiest if it would be a straitforward fit now? , or how the dials ect would mount .......hummmmmmmmmmmm
wenn stop putting ideas into my head lol ¬!!
