ok peeps ill answer all the questions ,after ive posted todays update

lol sundays dont stop the spesh !!! so they dont stop me either

so with the flor sections all welded in it was time for the bit ive been looking forward to

REMOVING THE CROSS BRACE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

k set too it wilst i stood giggling

really is a big step that the cars moving forward for me , hated seeing it in there , car hasnt shifted a single mm since removal

so with that done and wanting to finsih up the structural elements of the car , we got on sorting the front floorpan to lower a pillar section

this .....

so first thing first between the sections was cleaned and hooverd out and coated with red

k has always had a game plan on how to finish this so he wasted no time ...... butane torch was fired up

bit of dollying

i though it was going to be lots of cutting and adding plates , he simply heated it to super hot and dollyied it to shape

then as the gap between the mk inner winf and the cos floor was a little too wide under the batt tray , a filler angle was made up to fill the gap

then it was welded up , ground back and coated

and k gave it a coat of high build to make it a bit easy to see in the pics ,

and how they now flow seamlessly

once its got some bruish sealer you shouldnt know whats what

better that welding a lump of angle in lol

so with that done , rather than set up on the other side we decided to get on with sorting the inner wing

how it looked

you can see the tape highlights the curve of the cos inner and the excess of the o.e mk 3 ...

so k got the grinder out and trimmed it down

bit of red in the back

then the trusty torch was back lol

schTIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG

and then how it looked after a bit of hammering

then it was on with where they meet at the bottom

before

bit of cutting , heat and folding

and in primer , ready for a coat of spray sealer

and with the time getting on i had to leave but k cracked on with welding up the rear sections

all ready to be ground off

really chuffed , the progress is flying , i cant keep up lol

cant thank spesh enough ,make it look so fucking easy lol ,

ohh , and got these st 170 optional upgrade lux seats for the car , but on fitting there too wide lol

its way to much hassel to mod the bases as there intergrated ,

so if anyones intrested ive got the pair of fronts and the leather for the rears, headrests and doorcards , drop me a pm or check the st170 for sale section

k & b !!

yeah we considering taking it to central day without the interior in so folk can see the fab work involved , just painting the whole inside

one question though, will the rear sections be seam welded to stop the water getting through or have you used some seam sealer type thing on it before welding it together?

also, wider rears are supposed to help with reducing oversteer and promote understeer as it's safer allegedly anyway
well credit goes to you as much as anyone brother ...

i fucking hope its safer , think im going for switchable boost maps

this quality of work is the exact reason i waited 10 months for him to get bk onto it rather than ask someone else to weld it ,

ive bought some reps in the past, DONT, theyre 4x100+4x108 but dont fit ford or pug etc! centerbore is too small, and they chip really easily!

Still better than lensos though

todays update - 22/11/2010

not as mcuh done as other days but its the little things that take time lol

and its all to the end goal

first of k buttoned up the top of the tunnel

and then got stuck in to sealing up the drivers side floor

finito

same process as yesterday

then we got on filling the redundant holes left from removing the chassis legs

i got on sanding dow the inner panels for priming ect ,just keeping busy and not in k's way

as he was busy knocking bk the welds ,

and stitching up the last of the tubs

and after a bit of linishing , couple of coats of read and 2 coats of high build primer

how the right looks

to the now done left

and the seat section just needs the brace refitting

just the other side to prep up , bit more linishing , and then the inside of the cars almost ready for sealer and primer ,

after being full on all weekend k's taking a day off tomorrow so ill update wed or thurs

beef

wont be completed , me and k have discussed options for central ,

considering having the full car painted, building up the exterior ( kit lights ,decals , stripes , glasss ect )and fitting the running gear but leaving the complete interior out so folk can see whats involved and the quality of fab work before a carpet covers it .

kinda displays k's skills and advertises what he can do
