ok , todays update
so last night the gargae got a good tidy out ,
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010004.jpg)
be amazed how much mess you make grinding and cutting lol
anyway with that done and the floor in , it was time to move frontward with the car , the turrets for now will be put on hold , as we dont have the grp a hubs ect we cant work out there height in the car and it would be foolish to just bang them in and hope for the best ,
sooo........................
we mover to the middle of the car where the floorpan meets the bottom of the rear bench , really the last hurdle between joing the two cars and making it structurally solid ( enough to where were happy to remove the x brace )
area in question
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010020.jpg)
so , sister karl got in the mood of the day
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010007.jpg)
or should that be robin hood ??![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010008.jpg)
just rember if you aint having a chuckle theres no point lol
soo on with the work
suitable template was mate and a sheet of steel was cut by graham , karl then took this and fettled it
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010005.jpg)
note the swage
, seemed rude not to
test fit ,
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010006.jpg)
and with that the excess metal was removed
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010022.jpg)
areas cleaned and oxided
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010025.jpg)
karl then added a lip to the repair panel so it can be plug welded to the sierra floor thus adding strentgh and a better look than just migwelding the corner together
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010023.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010027.jpg)
and how it will sit to the floor
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010026.jpg)
gary ( gazzm) then turned up for a nosy top bloke , allbeit a bit on the quiet side lol
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010027.jpg)
so the panel was then drilled for plugwelding
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010033.jpg)
the floor had sank a little after only been supported by a number of spotwelds in the center of the tunnel , this was then cut and re jacked bk up to height and karl welded it up
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010028.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010031.jpg)
and rather a cool pic i caught
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010029.jpg)
so with the floor to height , it was plugwelded into postion
some pics
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010034.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010037.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010038.jpg)
how it looks from underneath , not completely finished regards dressing up the joint
note the swage in view , make it look a little more factory
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010039.jpg)
couple more of the underside
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010040.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010041.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010042.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010043.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010045.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010044.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010046.jpg)
gary brought along some srings for my mock up coilovers but more importantly the 8x18 comp mo i sold him lol
so seemed only right to offer it in the wheel arch
so we did
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010009.jpg)
and before you start say ooh it looks mint , ITS NOT GETTING COMPS !!!
so tried to juggle it into correct position in arch
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010011.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010010.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010012.jpg)
and with trying to balance it in one hand ad take pics lol , some of the inside
through turret
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010013.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010014.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010015.jpg)
a quick measure
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010019.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010018.jpg)
now this wasnt exact lol , and rember the turret has to go in , but im confident that with the right profile tyre 10 inch wide rears will go .... baring in mind the rim wasnt square and well could of done with the arch kit being on ,
been on the fone to warren and hes loaning me his 9x18 with a tyre on for a better idea ,
i then started cleaning up the seat braces ready to be refitted once all the weldings done
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010035.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010036.jpg)
as k was on with the other side of the floor i pulled the servo apart ,
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010049.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010051.jpg)
i considerd reloacting the pump section . but atm unsure where to put it that dont look daft ,
but im going to take it to the local hydraulics firm and have all the fittings converted to stainless banjo style ready for the braided lines , that way its sorted and can be painted up
karl was on with drivers pan
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010053.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010055.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010056.jpg)
peice being made up for the top
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010057.jpg)
and done ,
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010058.jpg)
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update20-11-2010059.jpg)

Fantastic progress again... it's really starting to take shape! With all the little touches like the swaged lines etc, it's going to look superb when it's had a splash of paint on it!

looking really good beefy and a real credit to all those who's skills have helped put it all together
one question though, will the rear sections be seam welded to stop the water getting through or have you used some seam sealer type thing on it before welding it together?
also, wider rears are supposed to help with reducing oversteer and promote understeer as it's safer
allegedly anyway
