I take its that's cryptic for there is another thread and you have decided not to continue with the one you started here so if we are interested we should just search for ourselves?

We went back to the WRC gasket & used a new form of head studs. The compression ratio was also raised (8.7:1) so that less ignition was required, hence less cylinder pressures. Last time saw 26 deg ignition this time only 16. A very conservative engine.

Marks guess at Power given to the mag before he started was 840bhp limited by port sizes & exhaust cam it made 838.4bhp & flatlined after 6.5k. Impressive low down i wont be chasing the 100 horses or so that would be found with a big valve head & wilder exhaust cam it would destroy that flat torque curve. The smaller Turbo made 810bhp & spooled 300 rpm earlier with similar peak torque & its that turbo I will probably end up fitting not sure yet.

Rod,
I know it sounds like I'm being nit-picking, but can you stop quoting / printing the uncorrected power figures !

Custom cams and they have been evolving over the last 6years, I think I have them just about right now.

No, I think I just misheard what Chip said, as I was convinced he said it was almost perfect dyno conditions, so the correction factor was only a tiny percentage and that it made 838, corrected to 831bhp . My bad !

That's good power for the port sizes - mine is only 500bhp and uses bigger .

It was near perfect temp/pressure, hence the correction factor was only 0.9% just in the opposite direction to the impression I gave you it would appear, apologies for not being more clear.

It is good power for the port sizes, but as I was saying to jimbo last night, at 8.7:1 you have 20% more pressure in the cylinder head at the end of the exhaust stroke than you have at 7.2:1 so that has to help with getting the last few gasses out.

Rich, can you quote me, in case im still on ignore, Im sure Mike wont mind reading this reply

Done nothing for a week under doctors orders so the stripping of the car for the cage has not happened, will probably go to MAD tomorrow to start but ive family commitments on Saturday so the Monday delivery of the car to XSport looks dodgy. Still my health comes first i suppose, will keep updating till the bl**dy thing is finished, dont ask when cos ive no idea.

Heard from Topgear mag yesterday, they may use the car on the launch of the Focus Rs no idea what that means as its a few months off yet & may probably means wont, we shall see.

Just remembered that i guessed your new engine to put out 850bhp a long time ago, pretty close then
