Its been stood for over 4 years & we dont take any risks at this level so its being taken off sent to Black Art for a complete refurb & then refitted.

wow, never really thought about things like that, suppose when your really pushing the envelope you can never be to careful.

When we last spoke about turbos you were thinking of trying the borg warner, you still gonna do that, or is that for something after the run?

The BW is ready to fit, but we may now test it on another engine which is going on the Dyno & is the same Spec as mine.

If you were to look at the car it seems that nothing has happened in the last week but things are going on away from the car. The suspension has been at BAD this week & has been refurbed with new rods seals & bushes etc. Got on well with John the MD & then we realised that we worked at the same place for a while, Marconi Radar, in Chelmsford & that his world was much as mine everything is maths & can be calculated . He was a bit taken aback by the 5th gear video . Taking his advice & after checking with Mark the rear suspension is being tweaked to give better stability under accleration & at high speed. Eibach twin springs are being used to control the rear end, he got technical but i wont, lets say a great deal was struck & BAD & MAD stickers will be on the car .
The other problem I have is getting hold of a set of 1992 Spec Power Steering hoses as the Pump moves to other side of engine. Im trying to contact Paul at NYS at the mo.
Tomorrow im going to start to fabricate a new heat shield & then im finished until the Brakes, Clutch & Power Steering have been sorted, maybe next week. Im then off on my Hols for a week & wont be back until 1st week in April. At that point it will be 2 weeks to go to make Central day. Im still not sure it will be there but at least an effort is being made.

Rod, if your that bothered about the suspension sitting for 4 years "at this level" then why are you trying to track down a set of 18 year old hoses?

Sounds a bit daft so why dont you do it properly like everything else on the car and get some new ones made to be safe?

We have always taken the Power Steering off for Topspeed runs so not bothered they are second hand, if Paul says they are OK then thats fine by me.

We took it off as over 8k and full power it would turn the belt over and then it would damage the water pump belt,
Now on polly V belt so sorted the problem.

have you a rough idea of all the additional weight over for example a stock car, id imagine a fair increase with all the safety and performance equipment.

I know its not really a concern for top speed, just more interested than anything

Well today (Saturday) i completed all the bits ive got to do except fitting the tial wastegate which is a problem because the pipe has changed shape during its coating process, no idea why or how at this point.
Just before leaving it was found that the rear beam will have to be taken off & 2 new rose joints fitted as they are seized, not sure whats required but its another job.

After finding out about the seized rose joints yesterday, Mark had a good look underneath to see if anything else needed replacing. Im afraid the Fuel Tank failed inspection & will be replaced. I then had to purchase a tank & after taking advice from Paul at NYS on where to source one I have just ordered a new tank & strap.
On Wednesday the old girl gets priority billing & Deano will remove the Tank & Beam. The new Eibach Twin Springs arrived today so the over hauled suspension can now be replaced but i think Priority is the Tank & Beam.
An efforts being made to make Central Day, but im off on my Hols on Friday, great timing, but family before Hobbies has worked for 40 years so no point grumbling.

Im on my Hols now so the last report for 10 days.
Ive left Mark with a few probs im afraid.

Rear Beam
One of the seized Rod ends has been removed but the other one could not be removed whatever was tried, it will be cut out. Was able to measure & order replacements that will be with Mark on Monday. The sleeves will have to be remade as they are a total loss.

Petrol Tank
A replacement has been ordered but has not yet arrived so Mark aint going to get that for a few days. The Filler Neck is also damaged but i had no time to sort that. Managed to Calibrate the sender to my Stack gauge which is one less job.

Suspension
The refurbed Ledas & New springs have all arrived but need to be fitted.

Brakes
Cant Bleed them untill Beam is refitted & Deano was muttering about a couple of pipes & the hand brake cable but that trivia that can wait till i get back.

Clutch
Still needs bleeding & Cylinder fitted.

Power Steering
Pipes have arrived but need fitting.

Intercooler/Rad & Pipes
Taken off so the power Steering can be more easily sorted a bit fiddly to fit them back but thats a few days off yet.

Will it then Start - Who Knows .

When I get back we have 10 days to get prepared for Central Day .

Well can now give progress on the following jobs:

Rear Beam
One of the seized Rod ends has been removed but the other one could not be removed whatever was tried, it will be cut out. Was able to measure & order replacements that will be with Mark on Monday. The sleeves will have to be remade as they are a total loss -
Progress Beam in bits new Rod ends bought but the sleeves have to be made not sure of delivery on those, its due to be spruced up & painted on Thursday but cant finish till new parts arrive

Petrol Tank
A replacement has been ordered but has not yet arrived so Mark aint going to get that for a few days. The Filler Neck is also damaged but i had no time to sort that. Managed to Calibrate the sender to my Stack gauge which is one less job -
Progress Tank arrived but Beam will be fitted first, Filler Neck ordered from YRS tonight.

Suspension
The refurbed Ledas & New springs have all arrived but need to be fitted.
Progress - Front struts on & complete, need beam fitted to fit rears.

Brakes
Cant Bleed them untill Beam is refitted & Deano was muttering about a couple of pipes & the hand brake cable but that trivia that can wait till i get back.
Progress - none waiting for beam to be fitted .

Clutch
Still needs bleeding & Cylinder fitted. Progress None

Power Steering
Pipes have arrived but need fitting.
Progress Almost complete but ordered the last pipe from NYS tonight.

Intercooler/Rad & Pipes
Taken off so the power Steering can be more easily sorted a bit fiddly to fit them back but thats a few days off yet. Progress None

10 days to get prepared for Central Day .

Have decided the most boring thread in the History of PF has run its course. Those who have followed it recently can try & find some paint to watch as it dries. I assume one day this car will be completed but i dont want to have people dying of boredom waiting for that day.
