Rod,
My shonky T4 makes full boost by 3500rpm and with more than enough power and torque to keep the gearbox on it's toes , so I think that is acceptable .

If I was chasing numbers with a silly narrow power band, then I would change it, but I want 32psi from 3500rpm to 8500rpm, so I'll stick with outdated technology until VVT is readily available in a T4 size turbo . I wonder what boost threshold that would achieve ?

As the saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Do you have a graph you can post for your engine showing the power it makes from 3500 to 8000 then Mike, or do you prefer to just stick to vague statements and hearsay to prove how the power is delivered

I suspect Rod would find the lack of torque your engine makes at 32psi bitterly dissapointing at all points in the rev range after what he is used to, although im sure to someone like myself it would seem impressive so I would certainly like to see it if you do have a graph you can show

Well given it only makes a peak of 450lb ft, I wouldn't be surprised that Rod would find it lacking .

I've long since given up on the willy-waving, I'm happy with my engine and that is all that counts . Plus the fact that it seems to bother you that I haven't ever put my graph up makes me smile .

It doesnt bother me any further than im always interested in power graphs versus the spec they came from, just like yourself as its a good learning tool.

Its proper strange....it doesnt look overly special but you just know its gonna do the business. The stealthy cooler, rad, breathers and even the black cam cover play down the.......MONSTER power engine bay, shame you can't hide that stupidly massive turbo, lol.

I see you havnt taken on the aero dynamic advantages that are fitted to high speed cars as stanadard these days that make them so much more efficient for VERY little cost
But im sure you have allready thought about it,

Not really interested in that sort of thing aim is to get a sierra Bodyshape up to 215mph, I could take the body off & fit a Viper shell i suppose .
XSport have talked about it with me but im sure i would get accused of cheating or whatever else my rivals can think of to explain why my car is so much faster than their efforts .

Not sure only Continental do a tyre rated to those speeds but dont have a suitable size. Not going to push sponsorship with Toyo now so not bound by that. Not worried too much about ultimate grip. ANY SUGGESTIONS !!.

Why are you backing out of the sponsorship Rod, l would have thought it would have been a pretty good thing for all conserned ?

I dont need the money or the commitment simple as that really, my car will leave its garage when i decide & not because i have too .
Im not a business so no gains there either just want a nice simple life. I turned down the chance to represent the UK in a competition abroad, it meant being away for Christmas so not an option, this is a hobby for me not a way of life.

Fair enough, is that the size of the commitment they wanted ? what would you have got in return?

If you want me to continue this thread please stop the fighting this is not General Discussion, where we all go to take the piss & act like arse holes.
Their are people on here that take this internet lark far to seriously.
Some people are interested in this car & its progress & while i except others are hopeing for its failure, please do your hopeing on GD not on here.
Thanks Rod

Rod are you completely settled on the spec now and is it a case of putting her all back together and mapping or are you planning more changes ?

The Spec of the engine is settled im not having further Block changes that Mark will put into the other 800+ engine hes building. However the Turbo is not decided I have a choice of two. The GT4202 & a ETT Spec Turbo they say will give better Spool-up & make a tad more Power if nothing else on the engine is a limiting factor. WE SHALL SEE.
The build up of the car is nearing completion at Spec-R, although im too busy to check on its progress this week, will check next Monday. It will be returned to MAD to finalise the Brakes, Power Steering, Clutch & a few odds & sods.

That can't be true Rod as just from memory the Veyron runs Michelins...

You need 17's on front and 19's on rear from memory yes?

I know you dont need ultimate grip.... just want them to be as safe as possible at speeds over 200mph yes?

Quick bit of research shows 997 GT2's use Michelins in 235/35-19 on the front.

that would do for your rears wouldnt it?

a factory standard GT2 does 205mph so they are gonna be upto the job I reckon....

is it 17's or 18's you need for front? kind 215 or 225 wide yes?

Absolutely true Lee, run thinner as well on rear to decrease drag.
Dont know of any Michelins rated over 186mph but any info would be nice.

The aim is as follows.
I personally want to hold the Topspeed record for a few minutes so a 207 would be nice & relatively easy . Greg Rose will drive the car as fast as he can, anything over 213 & i will stop even if he thinks it can go faster.
Im not sure if i have the bottle to do a 208 my best of 201.3 had me shaking like a leaf for 20 minutes, I wont risk my health but at the mo i intend having a bash.

Wow !!

Just seen price of Veyron tyres, best buy 2 sets may get a puncture on way to Brunters, owners of those car live in a different world.

Lee i use 205/40/17 on front & 225/40/19 on rear i require the 19's & 40 ratio for gearing.

Just checked 225/40/19 = 218.9mph @ 8.3k (Limiter)
& 235/35/19 = 213.8MPH @ 8.3K

Um!! maybe a possibility 215 is 8.35k in 5th Oh no not more possibilities.
Thanks for that info Lee.
