Collected some of my boost pipes from the powdercoaters tonight. As you can see the air temp boss has been added and theyre now a gorgeous "stipple" effect satin black. These look mega OEM in the metal. Really pleased with how they have come out.
Just the intake manifold to come back now

Glad you like my build.
There no 2 ways about it. The Impreza is better than your cossie in almost every way dynamically.
However, and i promise you this. There is no impreza out ther that will make you feel the way your saff does. Nothing pulls at the heart strings the way a cossie does. Ive had my Imprexza for 6 years now and this whole time ive been trying to fill the void my Saff left. Imprezas, Evos, M3s you name it... none of them make you feel like a cossie does.
Keep your Saff mate

IIRC its a flocked dash that Frayz has got mate.
I try and stay away from this thread for a wee while at a time, because I love pics and updates, and if I visit too much then I get frustrated at the time its taking...
Fantastic that we're nearly at the stage of dropping the motor into the car though Frayz, can't wait to see how it looks all fitted up and also what sort of numbers it does too.
Cheers,
Grant

Yes its flocked. Grant im excited and anxious too. It has all the right bits to do 500bhp and some on pump fuel. Maybe nearer 600bhp with some methanol.
But to be honest. Anything over 450bhp and it will be a very quick road car.
I just hope it all stays together lol

Looks really good frayz, who flocked it? toying with getting a cosworth steering wheel retrimmed in alcantara (dark grey) and the dash flocked. Not sure it will look quite so good as your though

Suffolk flocking services did all my parts mate. I need to send some more parts to Doug. Did a great job over 4 years ago now and still looks great

I assume with your spec, you'll be looking at similar torque levels.. so with 500bhp you'll be looking at near on 500lb/ft as well, that'll be a really devastating road car IMO.
Frayz if the engine doesn't hold together given the time, effort and what you do for a living, then I'll be very surprised mate!!
Cheers,
Grant

What's your thought's on going down the methanol route mate?? I've never really been completely confident in using it in a road car... dedicated track toy, possibly, however I still don't think I could be doing with the faff of it all, even for track use.

Methanol is actually very easy to use. I just premix it in the tank when i fill up. Depending on what the car is mapped for i use different percentages in with the V-power. It makes the fuel so much more det resistant and so much safer when using big boost and timing.
Hopefully on this build i will have 3 maps on the Syvecs that i can swap between on the fly via a rotary switch. 1 map for plain old 91ron "ditch water" fuel, 2nd map for plain V-power and 3rd map for V-power+20% methanol.
With the meth map im hoping we will see around 550bhp and over 500lbs ft
Cheers B
In short, yes i can be a pain in the ass. But my car isnt a daily driver (well non mover for 2.5 years lol) but nothing a soft brush and a hover wont fix

Some quick snaps of my new extinguisher fitted.
Mounted on 4mm thick billet aluminium bar, its strong and light. Fits a treat. Huge thanks to Dave for sorting this. 100% recomended purchase :thumb:
Top drawer service as usual from Alyn at AS Performance. 2 sets of plugs and some running in oil arrived today. Cheers Alyn
Just need to find some spare time to put the engine in now

That's neat mounted on the original seat points. Saves drilling more holes and it's tucked under the seat so isn't in the footwell taking up space like some people fit them.

Haha, cheers Rob, apart from being a weather pussy. Ive lent my fuel rails to a friend to CNC scan them to be run off and im working 12 hour shifts at the mo inc weekends. So time is spartan at present.

Just fuel rails and injectors left to fit. Rails should be back this week. The new powdercoated manifold is so nice. Its almost 100% OEM finish and shade.
