Not sure on a fire up ETA.
Got LOADS still to do both in the engine bay and wiring wise - but sad as it sounds, having sat in today, keyed on, seen the dash light up, i'm itching to get a fire up!

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I'd hate to be you if anything goes wrong in that engine bay. Extremely packed with cool bits mind.
Looks like its going to be a tool to be reckoned with!

Well, as it will be a year since i bought the car on the day of RS Combe - i figured it was a good deadline to aim for! So i did a little more today - was hard work in these temperatures!
This little (expensive!!) parcel arrived on Friday:
And so today i turned it into:
Then it was on with some more wiring, fuel pump was first on the list:
(Loom isnt yet tidied away as there's more to run)
Did some final tweaks to the loom:
And got the doors ready to fit the carbon doorcards:
Did quite a few other bits and bobs but no piccies
More as it happens folks?

Cheers Ronnie
Did the hall, stairs and landing
Mocked up the carbon doorcards:
(They need modifying to take the door catch yet )
Had a play round in the engine bay - mounted the fuel pressure reg, MAP sensor etc.:
Realised i could free up some more space by...
Cardboard template ready to go to Pro-Alloy as my carbon breather tank is now 9months overdue
Gives me this space to work in for all the relays, remote battery block, aquamist bits etc. etc.

Looking better all the time mate!
Just a thought, could this possibly be the UK's fastest/most powerful ST170, possibly European as well? I don't know what the yanks have come up with though with their SVTs so wouldn't like to guess it'd be the fastest in the world but certainly looks like it could potentially be leader of the pack!

I suppose it depends on what you count as being an ST170 - Will's has substantial changes to powertrain, drivetrain, braking and chassis. If you built a 2.0L zetec turbo and chose to use an ST170 head with VVT disabled (e.g. Adam Moran's focus), you'd have the same configuration as Will - would that count as an ST170? Will does still have the Getrag box though, and the car was once a standard ST170 I suppose.....! Can of worms eh
There are some monster spec SVT Foci in the states - see Modified Mag review of ATI Terminator focus for starters...
In all honesty though, it's quite possible that Will's would see off the above machine. The standard 03 Cobra motor only puts out 390bhp, and weighs at least twice what a zetec does (s/c 4.6 modular engine uses an iron block so is heavy in comparison to ally blocked na variants), plus the power delivery is quite peaky for a blown v8!
I can't wait to see this beast of Will's completed and see what she manages to churn out
Chris

Sure the yanks have rolled out some 400+whp turbo'd stuff. I'd like to think i'm pushing the boundaries for the supercharged scene...
Rick - yes, i'm hoping to rubber mount the pump! Not tracked down suitable bobbins yet but will let you know what i find

Managed 5 hours solid today - which was a little warm to say the least lol!
Bit of tidying round unused areas of the loom:
Various bits of vac piping:
Then it was time to turn this:
Into this - (with the help of an angle grinder!)
Quick squirt of paint to stop any rust:
Then onto the cardboard template - this will be replaced with carbon:
And now for 3rs of wiring...
Still plenty to do, but getting there...

Awesome work Will!!
As for US haveing anything over 400 hp for the ST170 "SVT" I don't know of any. Over 400 hp with a SC will be awesome!! I am kinda wondering how your wheel spin will be though

James - yeah baby
Thanks for all the kind words peeps - i'm having a little break from it at the moment just to clear my head a bit!
Jumping back on it next week - i think in reality 2009 will be a shakedown year and 2010 will be 'the one'

15K+ Super Poster!!
Nice one Will.
I had my turbo ST170 S2 on the road for a running in trip to the classic pod show. It's now back in pieces having the Focus RS box put in, so I won't be doing much this year either...
