My '88 Sapphire RS Cosworth 2wd (update 23.04.11)

It's Hagmans two-component epoxy primer (swedish stuff). I see that they have a english website, don't know if it's possible to buy it in UK though. Good stuff, except the awful colour of course, but at least you can easily see where you haven't put the white coat

After a long day in the garage the bay has been painted. Pics really don't do it justice as the color is way more whiter than this. I hope you like the pics even though it's a lot of them
On the next pics of the arches you can spot the actual color. Both sides has been stone chipped before paint.
Now I'm really exhausted and tired after all the painting, thank god I'm finish with it!

I spent some time yesterday under my LHD white saff, this car's doppleganger...
Mine's a little scabby, there is a lot of work ahead. I just cannot impart on readers how much work and dedication this kind of resto takes. I only hope that one day I can do this as well.
Excellent work and dedication Stian!

Thanks for all the nice compliments fellas
@pacwest: It's all about the patience mate, as long as you don't give up and rush it it's incredible how far you can go. I'm sure you can do the same work even better, trust me! Reading all those restos on this site and getting loads of help is what keeps me going.

Just took a few shots of the bay a few minutes ago. Not quite good to see the actual color but better than previous pics.
Couldn't help myself and mounted the new expansion tank
Gonna start with all the different bolts, nuts, washers etc. now and organize it before I send it away for electroplating. Boring stuff but has to be done.

@CosKev3: Cheers. It's all about the details isn't it?
@fezzajsy: Thanks mate. So how far have you come? Haven't seen any updates in your thread
@Marco: Yeah, I know - therefore I got one brand new in spare just in case

Of course Ole, you are truly welcome
Gonna begin sorting out the loom soon. Also waiting for a lot of different clips from Ford, looking forward to get all the wiring stuff in place. What pisses me off is that the throttle cable is no longer available at Ford and my old one is broken and in many pieces Sometimes it's a pain in the ass to get hold of genuine parts for old Fords.

Sorry for the lack of updates here but there has not been that much to write about since last time. Anyway, started sorting out the loom during the weekend and taped it up with some quality 3M tape to make it look clean and tidy. After sitting in the same position for over 2-3 hours my back started hurt so I had to stop but not long until I'm finished with it. Also received a nice package from Woodford today with alot of various goodies. Here is the list:
Collins engine mounts
Bosch 803 dark green injectors
3.0 bar map sensor
Ignition module
Standard coil
Motorsport leads
Water pump
Garrett -31 actuator
ECT water temperature (blue)
Air charge sensor (brown)
Throttle position sensor
TDC sensor
Temp transmitter
Thermostat 82 degree + seal
Fan switch
Oil pressure switch
Motorcraft 071 spark plugs
Sump set
Rear main oil seal
Front seal
Aux shaft seal
Front cover gasket
Water pump gasket
Distributor seal
Oil filter
Clutch cable
Speedo cable
Alternator belts
Power steering belt
Gonna send away 13 kilos with bolts, washers, nut and other things for plating pretty soon too. Really looking forward to receive it back together with the parts I have at the powdercoaters, then the mounting can seriously start

Yesterday my mate and I started working on getting those broken bolts out of the head, manifold and block. It soon turned out to be a long Friday night as we had to use three different bore sizes and make new threads on all four broken manifold bolts in the head. Thanks to my buddy and some good tools we managed to get it all done within seven hours.
There was two bolts in the exhaust manifold we needed to get out, good to have access to this tool then.
Pics of the head before we started working on it.
Hopefully the manifold will be tighten enough now.
Also cleaned the head in the part washer after we were finished. Next thing now is to change all the valve seals.

Yes mate, as soon as the air filter box and washer bottle is mounted the arch liners will be put in place too. Don't want to mess up those white inner wings when driving it even if it looks nicer without just now.
