My '88 Sapphire RS Cosworth 2wd (update 23.04.11)
#483
Been really quiet here, waiting for some parts to arrive from painting such as the cam pulleys. As soon as they are back i can go on and finish off the engine. Got the turbo back a couple of weeks ago and got it mounted right away, just waiting for the compressor house to come back from paiting as well.
During easter i will probably get some work done on the car and get it ready for the engine to be lifted in.

Cheers mates
Well, here's a little update. Haven't done so much but a few details has fallen into place and everything is now ready for the engine to be lifted in. Here is a few pics of how the status is today.
Overhauled T3 turbo with 360 bearings fitted.
I finally found a decent cover that fits above the heater blower, and with that in place i could suddenly sort out more of the wiring loom.

Keep up the great work
Hi
Been googling for info about restoring cossies and came across your thread, found it really interesting following your journey.
I have a question, did you powder-coat your diff and gear box, if you did, did you strip them down first. I appreciate this maybe a stupid question but I never seen you mention it in your updates.
Keep up the great work.

@Devon: The diff, gearbox and fuel tank are not powdercoated, only primed and painted with two-component lacquer.
Gonna pick up a brand new back bumper and grille next week, all the plastic parts will then be painted pretty soon

Updates and pics will come during the weekend. Received the parts back from the powdercoaters today so finally i can finish off the engine. Delivered all the plastics to the painters on Monday, gonna pick up the lot next week. Really looking forward to work on the car now, been changing brakes on three other Fords last week so it's gonna be fun start working on the good old cossie again

Cheers boys and girls, much appreciated
Here's a small update again. Received the remaining parts back from the powdercoater on Thursday and used Friday evening mounting a few bits together. The plan was to time the engine and lift it into the car today but noticed that I miss one small fucking woodruff key for the inlet cam pulley
Latch assy and IC plate mounted.
And the car can finally steer again, woohoo! On the right you can see the new fuel lines i have mounted.
Cam pulleys, turbo compressor housing, rocker cover and plug leads in place.
Really satisfied with the finish on the rocker cover.
-31 wastegate actuator mounted.

Many thanks for all the nice and warm comments, means alot to me.
The car will be used even though it's gonna be a pain in the arse to take it out for the very first ride. Received all parts back from the painters on Wednesday and have fitted a few parts already, pics will come during the weekend. Stay tuned

Here comes the pics i promised you from the last weekend. Bumpers and side skirts are now fitted.
Side skirt clips from CDF Racing was a fantastic piece of kit, really pleased with how they are fitted now, nice and straight.
Today i wanted to fit my new genuine mud flaps for the front and rears.
They even came with fitting instructions
Had to cut and form it around the skirt at the front but in the end i think it came out really good.
