One quick observation from me..
Once strapped in your seat and held back by the harnesses can you reach all the switches buttons and dials ?
I know your tall mate but it is sometimes something people forget
Can't quite read the labels but have the most important things nearest to you
My nearest one is the "intercom off" button

My only negative observation is that I wouldn't have a flat piece of metal as a dashboard in that way. IN the event of an accident, it could cause some serious damage. I would want it radiused at the very least.
Other than that, looks like it will be a properly fun toy - amazing the speed of the build too!

Blimy, its been a while since I have had any time to do anything at all on the car due to work and other commitments, so much so, I still havn't got round to sending back some bits to one of the companies I subby for
Anyway. This update is a culmination of very little time and too much to do
In no particular order of events, but it happened since the last update we have:
Norty Racing branding on the car at last
Bucket seats and harnesses - the harnesses are secured using the original seat mountings for the front seats and the seatbelt top mountings for what was the rear seats
Chequer plate flooring for the pedal box area and footrest for the passenger
A Landrover Series 3 Safari Roof Vent - this will aid cabin cooling since I do not have windows that go down anymore - a bargain at Ł10
A Battery Isolator on the bonnet for the use by Marshals and Emergency Services should the worst case scenario happen
A new wiring loom and a rather different looking MAF to what BMW use - whoever works out the engine gets a sweetie
The van is back - but what for this time?
And last but not least, the quick and easy way of covering shoddy paint and surface bubble rust - get rid of the rust with a wire brush and then cover with vinyl after protecting with primer
Phew - thats all for now

Good work Paul, although i'd say that roof vents needs to be heading the same way the spoiler did, pronto!
Make up a small vent by forming some fibreglass & resin over some foam or polystyerene, then just smooth it off and paint it black!
Oh and whats all this Norty Racing about!?

The engine is V8 flavoured
The only problem is I have bought 2 of them - both runners, and I have now found a gearbox - it came attatched to the second engine (picking that up this week sometime)
Next problem - steering column from bulkhead to rack is going to be an issue of clearance of the starter motor and exhaust manifold - wish me luck.
Well, technically the next problem is my engine hoist hasn't arrived yet - it was supposed to be here on Saturday so untill that arrives, I can't do shit

would you not be better off fitting the 2.5 24v straight six paul? 193hp out of the box so more than the landy v8(or is it a 4.6) and should be easier to fit?

Not really a difficult conversion Bryan - hardest part will be making the engine mounts, which are basically 4mm plate, 1" 14swg box and some pieces of rubber matting I found on the railway line as vibration dampers

Is it your car? No, well STFU then
Rover V8 = Ł100-300, plentifull, easy to work on, piece of cake to get bits for, excellent selection of gearboxes and plenty of bell housing adaptors.
BMW V8 = Ł800 minimum, then you have to buy allsorts of other shit to make them work.
Infact, forget it, why should I have to justify myself to anyone?

I totally aggree.
But again, where's the fun in that? I like to do things a bit different, try and push the limit of what I am capable of and broaden my knowlege base a bit more - the easiest way I find to do that is to try things
