my Moonstone 3 Door ...

A big thank you for the positive comments to all
lamb chops ... I'd be happy to cruise around and help you out ... but that 'cruise' may take a while ... me being in Australia an all
JETTECH03 ... Hello ... I'm busting to take it for a drive but 37 degree days are to hot for me
Well all went very well
I cranked the engine with the front still of the ground and bleed the PAS system (and to get some oil moving) ... no probs just had to keep getting out and adding fluid
Then I put the car on the ground (it had been that long I forgot how low it is) ... I was use to working on it up in the air A couple of cranks and she fired into life I was a bit worried as I wasn't sure if I was going to have issues with the immobiliser being unpowered for so long ... but nope all good. I had a long hose connected to the bleed on the thermostat and when coolant came out (when hot enough to open the thermostat) I clamped it with some vice grips, took off the hose and installed my new original blanking plug Engine was a little tappety but after I started driving it it's all quiet now.
Something always has to go wrong though ... stupidly I put my sunglasses (expensive Maui Jims ) on the car (and thought to myself at the time 'thats a stupid place for them') ... and later in excitment I drove off bye bye sunnys
After a test drive (and fuel fill up and air for the tyres) I had a really good look around and no leaks at all
So in summary I have gone from this ...
to this ...
The main things being ... new water pump (was leaking) and thermostat, new PAS hoses (one was seeping, one was cracking), wiring repairs/replace/tidy up (dangerous damaged wiring replaced), fluid bottles cleaned out, all new fluids, newbelts, washer jet tubing replaced, a really good deep clean (including polish on inner wings) and a new sticker kit.
Done for now ... more to come
I'm looking forward to driving it for a bit now ... if it cools down!

bigchez, COLEYST200, MrCapriscort ... thanks for the comments
During the test drive i took the car down to jet wash the dust and shite on it from being under the cover for so long ...
and I whacked some air into the tyres (tbh I'm surprised they're still round as it was parked for so long )...
I've driven it a couple of times now (mainly to work) and it was time to start a service. All doors lubricated etc etc but most importantly a service to the ignition components ( I remember how sensitive my 'pinto' escort was for a strong spark ... and I'm reading that the old 'yb' is much the same) so this little lot went in ...
I wasn't having problems with the car but the new plugs/dizzy cap/rotor/coil makes it feel smoother, anyway some more pics ...
The ol' car needs a good detail ... but I reckon she's scrubbed up alright

carlo thanks mate ... appreciated. I still have a few more projects in the planning stage which will improve the car heaps
coco16i cheers mate ... I've enjoyed improving all the details. Yeah the wiring should have been like this from factory ... but I have aimed to achieve a 'factory' look
lamb chops yeah I get heaps of looks from all sorts of people ...
although surprisingly a lot of people do know the car (except not many know the about the difference between the RS Sierra and the RS500 ) diffenately due to the Bathurst races and their Touring Car era I often get the comment from 'the V8 boys' - "its the only 4 cylinder I'd want"
It would be a different story with an Escort Cosworth ... its a bit of an unknown in OZ . ...
... and no probs I'll meet you half way - I'll bring my trick little box o' tools and a few spare wires

NATH-RSZT thanks mate ... I reckon its all in the details
mark1xr we have an RS Owners Club here but I'm note sure if many of the Sierra's here are registed ... its a good question though ... I have no idea how many are around (can anyone in OZ help)? They were never available from new here ... they were allowed to race under the now abolished 'International Racing Rules (?)' ... but since those times they have been imported as private vehicles.
JamesRScos cheers bud ... we seem to be aiming for the same 'theme' ... I may have to nic some ideas of you to

Well on the weekend I displayed my car for the first time at an event called 'Small Ford Sunday' ... I had been to it a couple of times and they get some great cars there (Escorts, Capris, Cortinas, Fiestas, Focus' etc) and this year was the biggest gathering I had seen.
I knew of a couple of cars that were around and I got to put some faces to names. I had a look around but didn't get to take many pictures of the other cool stuff other than my own ... enjoy.
Mines the second from the left ...
Its not often you see this sight in Aus ...
The turn out (for 'cosworths') got to four Moonstone three doors, one saph, one Escos and one black RS500.

Thanks boys
BarryGTi the show is held just out of Melbourne once a year and brings a couple of car types (and clubs) all together to the one large event ... I've visited it several times before and I'm sure this was the biggest turn out yet ... although I hardly took any pictures to prove it
James actually mine was different to the others in the fact that it appears standard It was great to see all the cars together (and to be involved )
KSA-Cossie Thanks mate ... the RS500 was but the Saph wasn't ... not that there are many Saphs in Aus (probably more three doors ).

No mate ... Unique Cars
Its something a bit different ... they're doing a story on performance cars available around the same time in the eighties, and are using real life examples for the photographic story cars from Aus Ford (XE SP), Holden (VK GrpA), US GM (Camero), Mercedes, Lambo, Porsche ... and my little Cossie
I enjoyed meeting Kash ... pity I didn't get to catch up with him at the All Fords meet ... maybe next time hey?

Well the day of the photoshoot was an early morning start with more terrible weather ...
Here's the Cossie stuck between some Aussie and American muscle ...
I was even outdone on the rear wing stakes ...
But seriously ... first we parked our cars for the group shoots and then the two photographers did the individual photos (half the cars each) ... of course I was one of the last
I reckon the ol' girl scrubbed up alright
