Cheers ... this is my daily a Ford Laser TX3 AWD Turbo; back when AUS got there small 'Fords' from Japan, the body is unique but the car is actually a Mazda 323 GTX (road version of the rally GTR's) AWD Turbo. Actually quite a rare car and now 20 years old (old photo though) ...

Oh, and the jets not mine .

The cracked dash ... one of many things on my list.

Well cars still in bits ... cam seals changed, sump gasket changed, tie rod ends and boots replaced. The inner TCA ends were to tight in the cross member so a bit of adjusting required ... shouldn't be to long though.

thats right mate ! ... 1.8 n/a fwd or the 1.8 16v turbo 4WD, same as gtx ... the gtr is a bit different (turbo / intercooler + bit more power), jap market only.

Thanks mate ...

When we tried to fit these the arms and bushes were to wide for the crossmember ... so we needed to take material off the arm thickness and thin the poly bush a bit. Standard bushes ... probably would fit (mine always had polys) but if there to thick would be harder to thin down the standard rubber as opposed to poly.

The adjustable TCA's came from Burton Power ... with poly bushes, the part number is on the picture .

Well the cars back and on the roads, to recap ...

This little lot went in, new timing pulleys (black zinc plated), alloy crank pulley, Reyland silver alloy vernier cam pulleys, new hardware (either blue or black zinc plated) cam/crank/aux seals, ended up doing sump and front plate seals, timing belt, acc belts and steering boots, tie rod ends and adjustable track control arms ...

I cant believe how heavy the standard crank accessory pulley is compared to the alloy one !

Before pictures,

torn steering rack boot ...

standard track control arm, all looking crusty ...

standard pulleys, again looking sad ...

and after pictures ...

new steering boots and a general clean up ...

new alloy pulley, new belts and anything that came off the engine for access (crank cover, sump) got new seals and a splash of paint ...

adjustable track control arms (suspension professionally set up from a motorsport suspension shop) ...

new pulleys, new tension/stud/cap and new oils seals (cam/aux/crank) plus a clean ...

happy at home ...

I'll leave the cam cover off for now, give it 500 k's or so then recheck everthing before it (unfortunately) all gets hidden again under the standard covers ... at least I'll know its all there !
