Its a budget build, it certainly doesn't make any money no object builds seem pointless.

It does however show you can have a fast (ish) 1/4 mile car for fuck all.

We had no choice but to paint it, the amount of welding required to sort the shell would of left it looking so shit.

The colour might not be to everyones taste but it has made the car look as trillion times better

I guess I worded that a bit shit, but why spend spend loads of money when a low budget car can easily be just as good according to the clock on the 1/4mile atleast.
I love the looking at and watching the big budget cars as much as the next person but have more respect for the low budget stuff that still produces the goods.

after reading about this & my mate neerly finished his corsa 16v i had to get one, so ive just baught a wide arched nova sr with 2.0l 16v engine fitted by courtney with reciepts, coilovers bucket seats etc, needs a wee bit of paintwork doing & a set of alloys but apart from that its pretty solid & a very good price ,

i get it home on thursday so i'll post pictures up then

sounds like a good buy, hope u enjoy it!

just a couple of things.

make sure that its got the 16v brakes on it! (256mm discs and bigger calipers) if not its worth getting some.

courtney in general have a good name, but just be carefully how they got the big block gearbox working. (new inner cv's with nova shafts, or complete new shafts)
ive snapped an uprated shaft before and heard about others that have done it.
but nova gte shafts tend to be stronger.

Cheers PON

Smitsturbo- Do watch out for those tapered shafts, big block one end, nova at the hub end, they snap SO easily.

I presume you got the car locally ? think I have seen it on mig ?

im totally with you cars built on the drive/inyour shed (or stable) in my case with limited knowledge funds tools and skills that own so called 'supercars' get the most respect in my book

We've now stripped the engine and found that the side of pistons 1 and 3 have broke off and been smashed to pieces in the cylinders, the sparkplugs on those cylinders also took a hit and the head has the odd few marks on it which should be fixable.

Whilst its in bits we have some steel rods and a set of forged pistons to go in, the rods will eventually bend under the torque and the pistons that broke were only cast pistons so this is the right time to sort that without too much hassle.

Anyway here is the pics :

Not even any det, its just simply too much power to early lol

Earlier xe pistons wouldn't do this IMO

In the long term yes, for now it will just be re assuring that its not on stock rods and pistons.

The pistons are only from a early xe engine (distributor type) as vauxhall only used Forged Mahles on the early stuff then started using cast pistons on the dizzyless engines like we have

A long overdue update

We've been a bit busy doing all sorts over Christmas but I finally got the bits to put the engine back together the other night

Steel Rods :

Forged pistons:

Cylinder head repaired and valves all lapped in :

Block fully prepared and painted "race blue"

Crank, big ends ground and polished mains :

All the other required parts :

This was one of the pistons I removed

With any luck I'll get it back together this weekend, it should be back up and running for the saturday night special coming up mid feb

Heres a vid of the only run we managed last time out.

First thing you may notice is that we now have a more normal exhaust lol, the car was quicker on the 1/8th but a rough gearchange slowed me down a little. iirc we were using nearer 150shot of gas on that run but it didn't come together as well as it had on the road.

Nice one Rad, the workshop where we work on the car is only another 10 mins up the road so you will have to come up one night when were doing some testing.

You can either watch or sit on the floor, I'd opt for spectating if I was you

IF your going to run a engine at the power we did then only use proper shafts and big blocks cv's at both ends.

The car has now been sold on so we can concentrate on our own projects but as you may of read it ran a 13.5 off gas with the new owner
