Quick update as I need some sleep !

We both got the car into the 12s' today, I ran a 12.5 @ 111mph and Gav ran a 12.8 with the nitrous bottle showing signs of being empty

Loads more to come from the car yet but as you can imagine we are VERY happy with the results.

What was your mate driving ?

We still have a fair bit of nitrous to go yet, my launching technique needs looking at as I was in the 2 sec dead category where as Gav was in the 1.9's.

Due to the nitrous controller failing on us after lunch we had to re wire it so it was a full on non progressive hit !

Gavs last run was already looking to be quicker than minethen he ran out of nitrous ! although we had a spare bottle it wasn't worth fitting it so late on in the day.

Roll on the next rwyb !

he was driving a greyish coulur ford focus, standard looking car, love the pod just want a car to run up there, need escort finished , spent today getting parts for it and fitting head gasket to fiesta turbo lol. il try and make nxt rwyb want to see it go, gret achievment

 

It was better than we hoped so early on in the testing stages !

Yes, its been perfect all day ! the ecu light came on when I was near the end of my last run, I assume this was probably the lambda seeing a very rich mixture though when it started to run out of nitrous.

Oil and water on the engine haven't moved a bit all day

 

your lucky it didnt over heat and sieze up with no water flow

Exactly what happened with my last xe nova that was and strangely enough it was 2 years to the day when the head went porous as I was at the Saturday Night Special event

Next time we take it out we will get some incar footage

Just want to say a massive congrats to EVERYONE involved with this car

Did get some runs on video (first 2 for the nova, 2 i think) But unfortunately his camera dies filiming the night time jet car run Sad

Which means we didnt get the 12 second runs on video. Sad

BUT, I think that car surprised a fair few people...and its come home in one piece ready to run another day.

Well where to start..... what a great day the car worked perfectly all day with the only problem being the nitrous controller but we made the most out of what we had, and ran without the controller on 100 bhp .
We tried some 130 hp ish jets for the last runs and jb did a 12.5
I tried a run but ran out of gas at the top of 2nd and still managed a 12.8

Best bit of the day for me was the two 1.91 60ft's which is a personal best for me,a few more of them with some changes and we will be getting down there! we have some different tyres and suspension setups to try, and we are looking into a few more bits for the nitrous.
I really do think this car will see an 11 on a budget which is really cool

Still really tired today but we/i will get you all some pictures today

have you heard of the £999 project practical performance is running,

with a budget of £999 (you dont have to declair all reciepts, but if you turn up running twin turbo v8 on omex, then its obv you cheating)

its a run what you brung contest, quickest car wins,

you should deffo enter

Zippyobrien- Not even heard of it but just spoke with Turbo-Gav and he is more than up for it ! Were well inside £999 inc the nitrous now the controller isn't being used

I absolutly love it. all these big budget cars are pointless

 

so did it cost less than 500 quid then??

looks brilliant for the budget & time it took

 

Inc our labour, no where near

But if you inc what we got for weighing the cally in and the parts we have from both cars to sell on then yes, we near enough done it for £500

It gives us £499 to spend to make it into the Perfomance car mag challenge (if its still on)

Ofcourse we also have to include the nitrous in that but tbh the basic kit only cost us £200 and the 12.5 was ran on a basic kit so we have a few hundred £ to play with
