Project "Rusty" resto of S1 update 06/01/08
Just a few pics as i can not remember the last time i posted some, infact i have not posted any since Passionford crashed and all my thread was deleated
Anyway he is a few just to prove the project is still on going and is very slowly be finished
New and hopefully improved brake set up, Cossie 4x4 calipers and 2wd discs
Makes a bit of a change from the normal silver i thought, hope people like them???
Not a lot of room, the caliper just touches the wheel weight!

The caliper on mine are 4x4 ones they go stright on you just have to put a washer between then and the mounting bracket to space them out 2-3mm, the discs i used are 2wd ones because they are bigger and they go stright on

Ive had a bit of spare time to crack on with the S1 over the last couple of weeks here are some pics:
Then to make sure all the interior still fits:
Yes i know ive cut the dash to fit round the cage, hope its not causeing to many lol. But as a saw it the dash was not mint so dont worry about it.
I know the door bars are a lot lower than they should be, but the cage is not ment to be FIA approved it more for show, lol. Its also been a nightmare tying to work around all the trim in the car, even the door cards still fit and speaker kick well covers
I now need to fit some more parts before i can remove the cage and paint all the inside of the car and the cage its self, so if anyone has an EFI XR3I complete wiring loom is uncut condiction they want to sell PM me.

Here are some of the older pics i have, they were all posted up on here before Passion Ford crashed and they were all wipped.
They photo from the advert, some of you might reckonise it as Thrush`s.
Dont the wheels look nice? The car dont look to bad in the pics, but it really is a rotton pig, as the pics latter on will show, i brought the car nowing this and the price also reflected this
Complete strip down to bear shell, this is when you really find how rotton the thing is
Part of one of the rotton floor pans cut out.
New floor pan all welded in
More rot, this is the inner skin of the A piller, where the door bolts on, no wonder the door was a bit wobbly
A bigger pic of the A piller.
The top of the inner wing, the bolts are the bonnet hinge bolts, the front end of the car was tearing off

Right time for a few more pics:
The roll cage removed and primed up and ready to rub down and paint, hopefully i wont have to remove it again its a nightmare to get out
The rear floor all primed and ready to also be rubbed down and painted, its gonna have to be good as no rear seats or carpets are going back in, just the side panel trims, which have all got to be cleaned and fitted before the cage goes back in.
The front section of the floor all painted and ready for the carpet to go back in and hide all the nice paint up
Looking much better now, all the rust has finally gone hopefully never to return!!!

Update time again, ive done a few bits to it over the last few weeks, here are some pics:
The wiring loom is slowly going back in, the loom is in a right state, its had bits cut into it all over the place, its also having the crappy MFI management removed and EFI management added.
Cage and some trim added to the rear of the car too, just got to tidy up the rear 1/4 card where it meets the roll cage.
New dash board pods for 3 52mm gauges going in the upper centre heater vents, a Turbo Display going in the upper centre speaker hole and the other part is the new barrary tray which is going in the boot.
Ive now got all the bits to put the gearbox back together, iam hoping its going to work, basicly iam using a late BC box from a mk6 Escort, this has bigger diff bearings and a improved shift mech inside, it should also be higher geared too as its from a derv, its also having the LSD added from the orignal gear box.
