I have not really had much time to get on with the car, over the last couple of months, but i have bought a few bits for it, this being one of them:
My mate has also been cracking on with my engine so hopefully that will be back soon, and the gear box is nearly ready to be painted and go back together.

Small update time:
After lots of research, searching scrapyards and having mates who are into Rovers the head and inlet manifold are starting to take shape.
As you can see iam using a Rover inlet, its a hybrid one though as the top part came off a rover turbo and the bottom part came off a N/A Rover 820i, only a couple of the bolt holes line up so they are going to need redrilling too.
You can see why Rover inlets are soo good now, look how well the ports line up, you will also notice that the head has had quite a lot of welding done to it as we did not want to use plates to join the inlet to the head.
You can see a bit more of the welding here part of the bottom of the head had been built up so the inlet faces up spot on, you also might be able to spot that iam using a 2000 Focus head as they have solid lifters and 1mm bigger inlet valves.
Plenty of clearence and looks factory fit.
The next jobs are to mount all the FRST sensors in the new head and inlet manifold, cut the end of the inlet manifold off and make a new face up for the FRST throttle body, face the head up and cut the valves into the head and then thats one part of the engine done

I almost bought this S1 before Thrush had it! Engine was a little boost happy on the test drive and the ride was a little sloppy when chucked about. Looking at the older pictures looks like i got away from buying a wrong'n as i would not have had the time or commitment to restore it as well as it's looking today! If i had bought it it would be dead now!
Top marks to you Rossco job well done if you ask me.

what a snotter that was. Well done for your commitment, you have suceeded where many would have probably given up. The zetec is a mint engine, i fitted one in my cabrio. I need to do the exact same thing and get a rover manifold. Mine has those dodgy bonnet raisers on cos it has a efi mk4 manifold on. You wont be disappointed!
