Looked great in the feature mate, and really good at National Day too
Sounds awesome in the video, even though the rev limit is pretty low, gawd it gets through the gears quick!
One of my favourite S2s, so many brilliant ideas on it, from the carbon aero bits, to the insance powerplant!!!!

Well the next issue to hit the project has showed its head!!!!
The twin plate clutch has given up. The clutch has had all the splines sheared out of the driven plates!! and it was not as if they were too small? the plates had splines covering the whole input shaft.
No pics because I have sent them back to the manufacturer!
Bugger bugger bugger.
Adapt and overcome as they say.

Fantastic project Simon! Just spent a little while looking through the whole thread, car has certainly got some potential!
Feature was cool too mate, what sort of power do you genuinely estimate it to be with Nos, as the magazine made things abit confusing?

Currently the head is away been machined for some different valve train componants that will allow me to rev to 8500. I have the componants so just need it back to assemble.
Had the box checked out as a precaution, it is fine, so no work required to that.
The clutch has been re-engineered, a new flywheel is in production and a new larger clutch with a special centre plate is on order/manufacture.
So very much looking forward to been up and running again.

Hi smits, there was nothing wrong with the other clutch.
It was a combination of milage, solid clutch plates and a short input shaft, that caused the failure of the last clutch!

Okay been very busy with customers cars for the last couple of months, so not a lot of time to devote to the ERST.
I have just about finished the rebuild/freshen up.
So fitted new Vanderval big and main bearings, and at the same time had to fit another crank as the last one wore out the thrust bearings which in turn badly groved the crank. This is because of my heavy clutch loading up the single thrust bearing. The result been machining the centre main bearing cap to take a thrust bearing.
The head has been away to machined to take stronger double valve springs which meant new spring seats, valve stem oil seals and spring retaining caps. Just doing the shim clearances now! oh and had a bit more flowing done.
I also stripped the Getrag MT285 gearbox to have a look and proud to say its built like a brick s##t house. No damage to any gears or selectors, needs new syncro rings for 3rd and 4th though! (second hand box no history)
I also have gone for a new approach on the clutch, not saying anything untill I have tested it! but looking good so far.

Its all in the toe and caster setting! get it right and you have no torque steer.
S.
Thats good to know!
I may have a fighting chance then!
It worries me the amount of trouble you have had with the clutch as I have a similiar power output planed for mine with an MTX75.
Looks like my fun/expense will continue!
Did you set it up yourself, or get somebody to corner weight/advise?
Keep up the good work fella, hopefully I can learn from your testing etc![/quote]

Only had one failure, learned one thing - solid friction plates gradualy fret away the splines (6 thousand miles) so go sprung centres.

I use to set up BTTC cars and F1 cars for a living.
