I cant see the pictures at work, but is this your throttle bodies?

What are your plans for the rest of the engine?

And I think I've got the brake problem sorted.
Xantia V6 discs should be the ones. I'm waiting on a set arriving and I'll let you know for sure.

I wondered when you said height. Yeh they are a lot better. I'm pretty sure on the 306 I can get away with them. They should be here 2mrw and I'll give them a go at the weekend

how much did all that work of drill and swaging those holes actually save weight wise? 500grams?

good work though

Looks cool mate!

Dose all those holes make any difference? Will it not make it weaker?

Crumbs, your on it with the replys

My mate had a 106 rallye with a saxo VTS engine in it, stripped it out to max, like yours, he only put Ł10 of petrol in at a time to save weight

no, its red, Its stored up at the min waiting for the engine to come back or something!

A tenner would get you once round a track in a gti 6, I was going to track my 306 XSi (2.0 16v + gti6 gear box) at woodbridge this weekend, but i cant afford to fuck it, its my only car!

I want a 205, even the 1.6's are good round a track, they have a fair bit of grunt!

i have a gti6 engine and it's not that bad really

i did about 150 miles on track at bedford and used 1 tank and 2 20l jerry cans

mine is high reving now as i have a 1.6 box so down the back straight i was hitting 7000 in 5th (7600 limit) so i was almost flat out..lol

Fuck me that isnt that good tho is it, lol, I thought 350 miles out of a tank in my 306 was bad, Mine was a high revver with the 5 speed box, it used to sit at 140 in 5th bouncing off the limiter, on a private air field of course!

140..lol i can only dream, 7000 in 5th is 122 ACTUAL figure, not speedo as the speedo shows 130'ish (flickering)

Yeah the speedo's are quite a bit out, it is on mine too, Carl, whos 205 gti6 i showed you yesterday has a ex police 306 with a calibrated speedo!

How come you run the 1.6 box and not the Gti6, Surly the gti6 box would be better?

I have came across this recently too, there was a 306 rallye at a tarmac rally i went to at the weekend, they were running the 1.6 box too.

But mine goes so much better with the 6 speed rather than the 5 speed!

few reasons

gti6 box
weight,
lack of lock
would be better for travelling to the track days though

1.6 box
close ratio
cheap (i've bought several and the most i paid is 10quid)
70 is 4000'ish

plus sides

ahh, that makes more sence now, is the gti6 box not as close then? i would have thought it would have been but just with a extra gear, there is only 1000rpm between gears!

Do you drive you car to track days then?

i drive mine to and from all track days (inc the nurburgring)

i have only trailored it once and that was croft 2008, i drove there in 2007

i have driven back from every track day

the issues i have ever had with the car and track days are

alternator died on trip to first day at croft 2007
exhaust bracket come off at croft 08
exhaust almost broke in half (stainless steel magnes) at bedford 09

thats a pretty good record if you ask me

hi spiky ,ive followed this all the way through and all i can say is top work mate.just a couple of questions, seeing that you have strippped the car so much what reasons are behind the weight being so similar?if you could have done anything differentl what would it have been and also do you regret anything you have done on the car??cheers mate

thats a great effort! i doubt my one will have driven home safely after the last day, steerring rack is fucked! we have to trailor ours though, because its not road legal!

im already planning a proper build with another 205 next year hopefully, taking inspiration from this thread mainly!!!

i do have a question for you, which may have been answered, but cant find it!

what is the reasoning behind the pedal box and gettin rid of the servo? no idea why people do this?

thanks

i have modded this car alot as seen, mainly as i have never done my own, for the sake of saving quite a lot on money i would suggest buying one already done, then tweak it, as it has cost me a fair few quid to get it to the standard i ahve now

as for changes, i have a few i probably would change...lol

the reason the weight isn't as good as it could be is the few things i have done aren't light than OE, like the engine, thats 25kg heavier than the MI16, which is heavier than std 1.9

the brakes i run are heavier

cage

all adds up

i will slowly alter things and the weight will come off again

my oringinal reason for pedal box was for room, as i not sure the engine would sit at std angle and not touch the servo/mc
