how much heavier is the gti 6 engine over the 1.9 8v, with all the mods u have done that should add up to over 15kg loss

Thats not much of a saving then. How much do you think the cage weighs, and how much heavier is the 16v engine.

my engine is 25kgs heavier, but not sure if it is heavier than the mi16 or the std engine
just been for a walk with the baby and found 2 weighbridge less than a few hundred yards from my house, so will see if i can get the car on one or both

had it weighed again today, after i found out (from taking the baby for a walk) that there are TWO weighbridges, about 200yrds from my house... DOH
it was again 860KG, so it's diet time, and over the next few days i shall be loosing some weight
been having a little play with my new metal punch and swagger

Well more progress tonight
i have cut out the harness bar and the plates holding it in place, then weighed it
4.5kgs ...OUCH
and as you can see from the pics i will be clipping the harness to the rear floor seat belt locations
then i set about cutting more holes out

replace all the panels with carbon or fibresmash that will save you loads also reply to your garage thread

Just take the car down to bare metal then put a coat of lacquer on just to protect the panels. Be a nice metalic finnish

its not strictly true of all paints but base coats are generally suspended in either solvent or water which are evaporated off before being covered in lacquer thus making them lighter once dried
2pk paints and lacquer will 'set' rather than 'dry' so these wont weigh much less if any
thats my understanding but what do i know
