Restoration and tuning Escort Mk4 - 2013/05/12
Hello guys,
this is my project. Sorry for my bad English but Im from Czech republic in heart of Europe. My ride is Ford Escort Mk4 1987 bought 2 years ago as RS Turbo S2 with XR3i pinkslips but in our country is only about 15 RST S2s. I bought this car for about 35000CZK (900GBP) "without" clutch. First plan was repairing clutch and driving. I was driving only 50kms since I bought it.
This is my baby with first upgrades - Keskin KT-1 17" (8,5" and 10") and new clutch (Valeo standard RS Turbo clutch) and rebuild engine (It will be other story)

to zippyobrien: Thanks.. I bought these rims with tyres for about 480GBP with pretty good condition. And to the ECU.. In Czech republic is only 1 FRST.. I really dont know where can I find the FRST wiring loom and ECU and inlet manifold but I was thinking about it too. Bodykit would be the next step and engine must wait.

to Fastas: He has only 1,8 16v Zetec engine 130BHP with pipercams and KN filtr.. Max to 150BHP. Its really nice car but that is all... He need finished interior, rebuild engine (maybe with turbo), new exhaust.. But the body with lights and paint is exlusive I think

And the rear brakes and bodykit is in order now Brakes should be next week but Im still working on Fiesta.

Nice to see someone doing things differently. Most RS owner's over here choose to keep it close to original but it's nice to see something different. I like the moulds you've made for the arches - proper job!
Is it me or does it seem really weird looking at this pic with the battery and wiper motor the other way round?

to Black RS: Thanks. Im really like to see that people likes my project. I ever want something different. The mould from concrete (form for the archs) I boulid 3 times 1st was breaking down after hardening the concrete, 2nd was breaking down during manipulation and 3rd is on the picture. I made the steel cage with round shape as the wood form and piled up the concrete. Now this is unbreakable
And to Your perception... Im from Czech republic, We have steering wheel on the lefthand side, and battery and wipers motor is conversely. So We have the simple system of brakes, We havent any pulls and mechanism between pedal and brake booster.
And.. RS owners here maybe build cars like original but 400BHP engine in Mk4 isnt so original and 17" wheels? But U R right. I was studied design college and I want to realize my dream.
Your resto looks really precisely.. Sometimes I try to find solution to choose the colour (black or white?) Im happy because my car has only a few rusted places. I had a big hole under the battery but that is repaired but I will need to change the front wings and front panel.

to Willem: Thanx
to SaqsS2Turbo: Thanks.. I bought these wheels by accident. They lays in tire service and nobody wants it. But I think that 235/40 R17 on rear wheels is too big for front wheel drive car. But It looks as kart

Saq: I hoped that
Twins: I would like to go there but I dont know when I will finish it. Maybe next year. And with the bumpers.. I will cut the arches closely over the bumpers and the second parts of arches I will modify it for bumpers.. I have a little plan for both bumpers but now I need to finished arches and side boards and wide doors etc. I'll send more pics when I'll go out form garage.

to Willem: Thanks. I hope that my car it will be unforgettable The doors are wider about 7cm and a side skirts under the doors will be wider than doors about 3cm. And the arches will be wider than skirts about next 3cm. I don't like how the original car is narrow between the wheels.
