M3 mirrors......gone, phase 2 on.

I am now stripping out the front half of the cage but think I will keep the rear and add some extra bracing down to rear struts.

Starting to look at what bits of dash to flock and fitting out the rear trim, it looks like a few spot welds only to remove the rear van sides and then. Just break the sealant but I think it's gonna need a bit of paint after so considering a total repaint very soon.

NEWBIE QUESTION: what are the visual differences of a T3 turbo versus T34/5 as the mag articles talk of an upgrade on the cards but not sure if it took place.....also what are the characteristic differences in terms of performace scope and lag etc....this does seem quite laggy between gears.....if I go twin scroll it would be good to know the differences between all 3.

The t16 rally rep has crossed my mind and would probably make it more valuable.

The legs are not Sierra, it runs the Sierra sub frames and avo coil overs. Handles really well, softly sprung and very neutral.

I have a load of pics to post up if I can get photo bucket to stop crashing. I have stripped the interior ready for windows out and paint in along with total retrim and flocked dash. Will try pics later.

Tranny tunnel with rubber inner tube covering gear selector hole.

Tranny Tunnel - soon to be trimmed in 205 Gti red carpet....anyone know a good trimmer for this local to Hampshire / Surrey? That is NOT rust on the floor it is the old carpet glue. So far I have not found any rust at all but with 35,000 miles on clock I imagine this has spent a lot of time in garages being cared for, unlike many 205's. I have 1.9 gti on K 1992 and I had to weld a lot of that before the Gti6 engine went in.

Stablemate soon to be for sale, Mint 84 Carrera 3.2 Ł18k, pm if interested.

Yeah, there is no hiding the kit. Looks like I may keep it red now as the painter was showing me the pit falls of colour change in terms of the extra stripping of areas. I will make a final choice very soon and then it's off for paint.

Need to see is an rs 500 intercooler will fit in the front or if it needs something bespoke.

Good call, my 106 cosworth is in for paint at the mo, its staying its original cherry red which is a nice deep red with a proper carbon roof and it sits on WRC mag OZ Montes in white

You lot are not helping.....just going back for quote for colour change!!!

The more the paint costs the risk grows for not getting a twin scroll turbo....I want fast spool, low lag but 380 or more bhp....500 is tempting having had a 500 bhp AMG Merc and that weighed 2 tons...I bet this is not much over the ton seeing as a 205 is about 800kg normally.

I am still trying to find out if the car has the standard T3 turbo or the T34/35 and do not know how to tell? The original article says he was going to visit severn valley for a T35 but I cannot find any receipt for it and the history file is very thorough on other items....anyone got any pointers?

The car now has the opening back windows in and I have tripped the car for paint and re-trim. I have just won some Mk4 90 spec RS turbo seats that are going of for a leather re-trim. Just ironing out what wasted spark setup and ECU to use now. I have lots of pics to update but the silly photobucket is messing around.

I spent a couple of hours after work today rubbing down the roll cage as I have cut the front section off. I have also mocked up a new fuel tank in card so that a fabricator can make a new one to sit inside the cage area for safety (the existing one is very close to the rear and I was worried that it would take the impact on a rear ender and is not foam filled)

Also rubbed down the front bumper air dam ready for paint.

Picking up some Rs turbo mk4 seats tomorrow ready for a retrim and I have ordered 100 sq ft of sound deadening.

Thanks for the input....I am just about to book the bodyshop so need to decide soon but the Red has really grown on me, it is the original Pug colour for this car and also saves me taking the engine out......

Grey would look wicked, but it does't matter as you've made it 100000% better by getting shot of those horrible poxy mirror's

Car is at the paint shop at the moment but here are some update pics:

Cage is now fully powdercoated and I have bought a new Automatic "Bulged" front bonnet. New Fuel tank is being made bespoke to fit inside the cage for safety instead of right at the back of the boot and unbaffled as it was before.
