UPDATE
Started to strip the engine today. Was in the garage for a total of 8 HOURS today lol took my time and did everything slowly.Marking where things came from and drawing diagrams etc. Then washed lots of bits in degreaser and placed them into labled boxes
Pictures look better than words...
When i first lifted the engine onto the stand...I didnt have a crane just my super human strengh provided by drinking Stella all day *dont ever lift an engine without a crane!*
Hmm yes not too sure about how safe this is,Plz tell me if you think im mental.
Drained out the old CRUDE oil...yucky
Removed the Cam cover
Then drew a simple diagram noting positions of cam caps by the code number inprinted on top of them,Noted everything else aswell just to fill the page lol
Removed the caps then the cams and placed them in a box exactly as they came out.
Then off came the head and gave it a little clean.Doesnt seem to be any damage apart from the little nicks in one piston that i did with a scraper tool.Wont need these pistons anyway.
Sump off and oil pickup pipe removed.
The crank.
Didnt get pics with all pistons and rods removed.Totally forgot as had to get ready to pop out.

GARAGE CLEAROUT
Got the garage cleared out and for the FIRST TIME the project is in the garage! *Hurray!*
This is my projects collections minus the stuff hiding in my bedroom like T3 Turbo, lights, engine dress up bits.
This is my parents random collections that took up space in my garage for a YEAR!
Washed it before putting it away as it was filthy! The paint has turned to a horrible pinky colour due to the sun so ill have to buff it back up, When the project is finished im hoping to get it fully resprayed anyway 8-)
*Had a helper as well aka the dog*
Woo some space to fill! *Lilly my tri colour sheep dog inspecting it first for spiders, screws and anything else she tried to eat*
Well it fits that's a start
New heart awaiting me to throw money at it
Now all i need is some time money and intelligence.

Went out and started to strip off the kit to see what the condition of the arches and sills, Found surface rust on the sills seems where you jack from as per normal but where the rivets go through into the sill to attach the skirts ive found two places where rust holes have formed.Naturally i attacked them with a screwdriver
Removed the bonnet and arch liner aswell to try to aid light getting through so i could see better. It was in the way anyway.

Two pics of my bonnet after did a Megs 3step cleanup on it.
Firstly removed the drivers side arch & skirt and then the front bumper.
Then started to look for rust
You can see where ive hacked at it with a screwdriver to remove the paint. Some pics have the green gel on the rust with is rust remover.
Checked for more rust but didn't find any I got the rust applied with rust killing gel back to bare metal and coated it in undersealer.
It will do for protection until i get the whole bay back to metal for a respray when the engine is out. Before respraying im going to seem weld the lot.
Here's some pics from 20/8/07
Treated rust with underseal just to protect it until i respray the lot.
Ah and i broke the clips on both sides of two of these little annoying plugs. They were so brittle that they just snapped when touched

Finally I can unveil my latest big buy. Very very fast delivery from Martin Hadland "aka Reyland Motors" Ordered it Tues,Paid on Wed and got it on the thurs! Spoke to him on the phone and can happily say he is a very nice bloke. Will definitely be ordering a Tial external waste-gate from him.
I ordered a GT30 turbocharger with .63 exhaust housing.I'll let the pictures do the talking...
Pictures against my T3 that is currently on eBay.
Oh yes I'm a very happy bunny!
Incase your wondering what sort of power this can produce,It will push 450bhp and above with good drivability.

Spent today in the garage doing odd jobs on the project. First I decided to clean up the engine bay a bit by brushing off all the dust and wildlife that consist of 6 legs or more! Then decided to unplug and pull out all the engine bay loom and the fire seal? I think thats what its called,The metal and fabric guard between the engine and wiper motor/gutter panal.
I then realised I really should clean up and repaint some of the under car parts.
Decided to quickly remove and paint the holder and supports for the catalytic convertor in black Hammerite Metal paint.

I set about removing the xr2i's standard inlet manifold and injector plate.
Then trial fitted the Rover Turbo Inlet manifold with Ian Howell adaptor plates to test the fit. Fits beautifully!
All weekend I've had Lilly dropping ball or this thing at my feet,If i dont throw it after 10 or so seconds she will drop it actually on my feet or on my tool box.Even worst is the ball she drops it and it rolls under the car!
Cute though.
