My 3dr Cosworth project updated (16.01.12)*

I thought the same, will only run them on track and top speed runs anyway.
Gutted i didn't make it to yours bud, just cant for the life of me figure out this problem, Martin said to make sure the blades were not catching the compressor housing as i was thinking turbo but this is perfect with no contact, only things i can think now is that there is a leak somewhere but can only be either the cooler or the inlet plenum as all the pipes are fine as had them off, checked for splits etc and refitted to no avail.
Good luck finding some bud, as above took me 5yrs to get some, lol

UPDATE ON BOOST ISSUE
Took the car over to see Jimbo and we tried a few things and we were certain it had to be an air leak, Jim wanted to do a pressure test to pin point where it was but unfortunatly he couldn't find his kit to do so.
So while i was down that way i went to see Steve to see if he had a kit that would fit on the turbo and luckily he did, on testing it was coming from the inlet plenum.
So todays job was the removal of that, was gutted to have to remove the carbon laminate and what a mission that was but the grinder made light work of it once that was off you could clearly see it had split at the seam.
I would have got some pics but time was getting on and i wanted to get it dropped off at the engineers.
All being well will be done on wednesday so its just Ł30 plus a few gaskets, am very relieved as i thought it may have been turbo or something.
So big thanks to Jimbo and to Scotty

Got my inlet back today from being welded back up (at last) although they only charged me Ł10 so not all bad
just looks abit of a mess due to grinding the carbon off may get it powder coated now though as well as a few other parts
Got myself a new longer intake pipe, but may have to change it again as i want to get rid of the foam filter and put an airbox on as i hate the look of cone filters and it needs to be a reducing pipe for the airbox lid i want.
Also as some may have seen in general discussion i had a problem with the car running too cool so took the thermostat housing off to investigate
To find the gasket had moved allowing water through all the time
Going to fit this as well when i get to work on the car as finally found it
Which is one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UPRATED-Ford-S...item3ef93591b3
Also bought myself a 4wd brake set up to move the fluid bottle away from the turbo and to be able to make a neater heat shild as changed my find from the bias pedal box route
Inlet gaskets turned up today as well from Gaskets Direct, they have plently of good feedback on ebay so should be all good
Other than that just took a few pics of the bay looking in a sorry state but will be sorted soon just funds are a bit tight at the moment
Have got a few other bits like some black hose joiners and another thermostat housing but couldn't be bothered running all over the house to take pics but as said will be sorted soon.

I dunno, i like the granite (some people call crackle) finish like Christain had on his engine.
I also have another rocker cover that i need to get sorted for a cam trigger to get rid of the phase sensor (dizzy) but im not sure if to have it black again or to go back to a red rocker cover with the rest all black

Result on finding the boost leak, my Audi came with a free tester in the glove box as it would have a new leak every fooking time I took it out grrr.
Crackle black inlet will look good enough, I quite like that sort of theme in a engine bay, Christians did look stunning.

Thank you for the positive comments guys
Mate of mine had a Audi S2 that was a nightmare for boost leaks, infact we never did find it even with replacing every hose, vacuum line etc so i know how you feel bud
Thought i would try to polish the cover today but the marks i put in removing the carbon laminate are too deep and will take some serious effort to remove so gave up
Cleaned up with 60 grit
Then went over with 120 then did a section at 240 but got nothing less so give it a quick polish with some "Brilliant" stuff, this would not have been the finished look as need to go to less aggresive grades of paper but as you can see the marks are very visable

Small update.
Not much has been happening recently with the car due to the fact i had to have quite a major dental operation that cost me a small furtune and has meant i can not risk knocking my face or raelly do much physical so have kept away from the car.
However after about 8 long months the Tremec gearboxes have arrived in the country and i recieved mine today.
Big thanks to RoadCraft who have kept me updated the whole time we have been waiting for these from the states.
Just got to wait for Martin to sort me prices out for the other bits i need to get this fitted to the car so next year i hopefully will have no more transmission issues.

Rod - that box already comes with a good shifter (I think Steeda make them for tremec). When you bought yours they did not (only been coming as standard equipement for the last two or so years - the red anodised top denotes it) - try it Gav and see if you like it before buying another one.

Been working on the car the recently so thought i would update the thread.
Refitted the inlet as fancied using the car that day, lol
Thought it looked good in the garage:
Used it a few times and come to the conclusion i was not happy with what i had done regarding how far i had took the car so am now back tracking a little
Will let the pics do the talking:
Will soon be for sale once i get the mounts out
Small area that will need sorting
Roof lining is also out and the fabric has been removed and binned but it started to rain so had to pack up quick so no pics of that yet.

The car is used mainly on the road and will probably only do the odd track day here and there, plus i want the comfort and less noise back, lol
If i do get into track days more i'll get a different car or shell whatever but for now i want the car to not be a chore to use.
As for good bits, there was not really that much in there really.
The fuel systems up for sale but got a guy gonna let me know wednesday
The cage will be going up once the mounts are out
The seats have been bagged up and are in the loft where they are staying, think thats it really, lol
Thanks as always mate, think you have followed this build through all its ups and downs
