I drive the new models as a living, All models and random BMWs up to I3/8 & M3/4/5.
The new F56 JCW is bloody good fun, I've never been a fan of AT transmission until I drove these cars.
The standard cars once warmed up have a great exhaust note. Pop and bang like no tomorrow, Not a fan of the 5Dr F55 or the brand new F54 Clubman mind.
One day I had to drive a F56 Cooper SD 250 miles on a test, It holds the road well and goes well too.

does it have any mods yet other than the exhaust ?
you can add about 20 hp to these for very little money.. make it the car it should have been from the factory. and faster than the official 'works' version..
get yourself on MiniTorque.. loads of great advice on tuning and any other aspect of owning and running these cars.

I have a 2006 R53 with a few choice mods and it's a blast to drive IMO...

While you're doing that remove, clean and re-seat the bypass valve.. If the butterfly is not seated properly you lose boost and they seem to be a bit hit and miss from the factory. Or you can buy an 'optimised' one for about Ł85 from 1320 mini..
Other things to look out for are the front top mounts pushing the strut tops up and the front lower control arm bushes.. If it torques steers a lot then chances are it's the lower bushes on their way out.
More details and 'how to' guides for all of this stuff can be found on MiniTorque..
I'm really enjoying driving mine atm. good fun little car..
Little pic of mine..

I had one the same as yours back in 2005.
Got an aero kit, KW coilovers, Alta induction kit, Alta smaller pulley, Alta control arms. Was about 210bhp and handled like a go kart! Brilliant wee car and definitely surprised a lot of 'bigger' cars - Leon Cupra R's, Type R's, standard focus RS mk1/ST etc. Wish i never sold it but it cost a fortune in fuel! 18mpg was the best i got from it.

Leda do very nice solid top mounts and adjustable dampers. They supply to the Scottish mini race cars

I remember the power steering pump went on mine and it sat buzzing away when the car was sat, which eventually flattened the battery and set the alarm off at 2 in the morning. Shit my pants! Had to unlock the door manually, lift the back seat to pull the boot cable under the seat, to disconnect the battery. Neighbors loved it at 2am!
Carlo off here sorted me under bmw warranty for a new pump though.

Was never a fan of the stripes on the grey ones personally. I'd defo try and pick up parts for the aero kit. You can buy them separately, sideskirts and bumpers. Makes some difference!
