Default The Car Story so far

Ok iv been a member for a while but iv never really posted much, so i thought id post up the background of what iv been up for for the past few years !

first up the mk5 zetec-s , i had a few fiestas before this, 1.0l pop plus (first car), 1.4 mk3.5 si (bubble bumpers) then onto the zs.

bought it in a fairly std state however it wasnt long before the modding started.

iv skipped a year from when i bought it as nothing much happened hehe

clumber park in 07 , rocking a dead phase 1 1.6 engine, powerflow exhaust and FRP seats, debadged grill and detangoed lights oh and avo coilovers !

Moving on from there and making a fairly quick decision on the way home from there that i needed a new engine i started talking to jon @ shawspeed. shortly after that and a few pm's later i was in ownership of a mildly modified phase 2 1600.

uprated vavle springs, hd big end bolts, helix clutch, lightweight flywheel, full miltek exhaust system with decat, larrrvvvllyyy, i briefly ran a puma inlet aswell untill i decided it was doing sod all so i swapped back to the std 1600 inlet.

I ran it round like that for a bit untill i went to ford fair one year and took it on the track.... yes its all down hill from there after you get the bug, so the next 12 months consisted of this

omp bolt in 10 point cage
magnum motorsport lightweight buckets
stripped interioir
modified dash
ss4 cams
omex 600 managment
42mm throttle boddies
baffled sump
battery relocated to the rear
hispec 4pot big brake upgrade (well bigger than std zs)
rear disc conversion
full engine bay strip and repaint

Took it back to fordfair and did 1 1/2 laps lol, nearly spun a shell due to low oil (tool here forgot to check the level before heading onto the track)

luckly i got away with no damage, topped it up for the drive home and it ran perfect.

Part 2 is comming up in a min where i feel it may appeal to a few more people on here

ok part 2

so after ford fair i was after selling the car, the near disaster had annoyed me quite a bit !

however after giving it some chats with friends we came up with a solution to the problem.

so take this lot

add this lot

bit of block work, honed to 2.1, decked and ballenced.

paint the bay again !

build the engine back up

and place it here

nice neat intercooler

huge air filter

finished article

Now this next decision didnt go down so well over on zsoc however i just didnt like it ! , it was too quick for my liking the drive wasnt the best and yeh i just couldnt get to grips with it in such a small car, so out it came after 300miles....

I then decided i just wanted a car that works first time everytime, no hassle, has a bit of punch over a std zs and just drives good so bring on engine number 4 haha

Virtually standard interior aside a few nice mods

And thats pretty much where im at to date.

its now running a stock puma lump, std exhaust mani and cat, cat back miltek system. still running the avo coilovers although i may change these for a fast road setup for more b road fun. the interior is spot on for my ageing back !.

I hope this hasnt bored you all too much and i look forward to seeing more of your insaine builds on here !

Cheers Paul

Well it wasnt properly mapped, so it was very rough in the lower range and the paddle clutch didnt help, it was drivable but not what i was after, i never drove it on full boost it was quick enough on 1bar lol

Didn't haha. Think liked the idea of building it more still made money on it wich is odd for a ford project, and kept the shell so might get done one day.

How's Vauxhall life ?
