It's very common on saphs, don't worry too much about that mate.common points are seat belt mounts, inner kick plates, jacking points and floorpans themselves.I may have q few of my underside welding so I'll put them up.....I hope your rear chassis legs are ok,their a twat to do!

somebodys spoofed that up already.i just finished welding mine up.it had a couple of holes where the sill meets the floor.the best thig you can do is get in with the grinder with the wire wheel and a screwdriver and poke and grind till your happy you have found all the rot.mine wasnt bad, where the raised bit behind the jack locating hole is was gone so i cut all that out and welded in a plate.its under the pedals where the grills are.its best not covering rot,cut out as much as you can then make plates up.its a shitty job but once its done and all solid again its worth it!
i didnt take any pics tho!

cant see for all the smeg somebodys plastered on the floor.if water has got in it will sit between the sill and floor and just rust away.get it up in the air and look underneath.you may open a can of worms or you may catch it in the nick of time.have fun holding onto the drill with a wire wheel on it!

it will just take longer if its bad.if the inner sill is gone then i would pull the kit off at the front as it hides the sill so if theres any foosty bits on the outer sill you wont see them.its funny, usually the pass side rusts 1st but my drivers side was the side needing welded, same as yours!

I had to weld two small plates on my footwells about 10cmx10cm, although that seems like its been welded before and not treated afterwards. Its pretty scary how thin and flimsy the metal is around that area. Once you have finished welding, get some red oxide paint and cover everything with it inside and out.

Ive peeled back all the tape on my inner sills and filled them all with Bilt Hamber anti corrosion treatment. I bought 2 canisters and filled everywhere with the stuff, chassis legs /rails sills etc.

It sat on axle stands and bled for a day or two until it set. Good stuff though. Give it a go once you have finished!!

i think i'd be rippng out the interior to be honest to find every little bit. take it off the road, stick it in the garage and play rust hunter over the winter. next summer it can come out of hiding all spick and span and ready to go.

Fingers crossed for you matey. I know first hand how you feel. But you have to ask yourself the question, would you not rather know and be able to fix it??

Just got to make sure you chop all the rot out to good metal.

if its been jacked up with atrolley jack behind where the proper jacking point is it will pull at the seams, crack underseal and damaged the floor.maybe this has caused some of the damage.

Mate I've seen a 100 times worse than that !.....Looks good considering it's been used as a daily for god knows how long !

I've got a really good wire wheel and a variable speed grinder you can borrow....Just buzz off any surface rust you find (be prepared though, it could turn into a hole )
then give it a good coat of primer + paint with rattle cans...then I'd lash on a load of wax oil just to be sure !

check your door seal mate, could possibly be leaking through there....honestly though, it looks alrite !...its been played with a bit before but nowt that isnt an easy fix !

is there much of the bolt protruding?? if so you can get stud extractors.

if not your gonna have to drill them out and clean the threads up with a tap.
one note though its very easy to drill the whole off centre which makes it a little more difficult.

in terms of old saffs mate, its not bad at all, ive seen a WHOLE lot worse than that. i was paranoid with my mondingo, they love to rust, but i got mine up on a ramp, and checked my floor pans, and there isnt a spot, or on the sills and chassis legs, its just the rust on the top side i need to sort lol. got a nice spot rite next to one of the bumper brackets, and a few bits around my rear window. ive got a feeling, this winter may be its last before it needs dealing with, but at least structurally, its sound.

as sure as water is wet, and the sky is blue, unless its a low mileage, pampered, and lives on a bed of feathers saff, it will have rust somewhere mate.

the mk1 and mk2 mondeos are newer, but there just as bad. i know an ST24 that has just been scrapped, it was two years newer than mine, and done half the miles, and on the top side, there wasnt a spot of rust, arches, no where, it looked from the outside, like a concours car, but get underneath it, and the sills, floor pans, and chassis legs, were rotten as a pear, so it got scrapped. but obviously V6 mondys are ten a penny, you scrap it, and buy another one, but even a rotten saff, is worth saving, because there worth good money.

and like i said, as far as everyday usage saffs go, your looks pretty sturdy mate. wont take much to sort that.
