Pic request of your lowered focus
Hi,
my girlfriend has just bought a 1999 1.8 focus zetec and wants to change the suspension and lower it at the same time.
what we can not decide is by how much to lower it by, as the kit i am looking at can be lowered from 30mm upto 60mm i think.
so any pics of your lowered focus and how far you have lowered would help as we could see what it would look like.
if it makes a difference we will be putting some 17" alloys with 205 40 tyres on it.
thanks in advance

Thanks for the replies.
What is the drop on the eibach springs?
Also the kit I have been quoted for is a spax kit for both springs and shocks.
What is the opinion on the spax stuff. I know they are not the best but what is the general opinions on them.
Thanks Adam

Thanks forthe offer or a pic but as they will only be 7j I would expect them to be ok. I will do a trial fit tomorrow I think before any Tyres are bought.
Any more pics of your focuses would be good for inspiration

Hi there i would like to offer you some advice as ive owned 11 focus mk1 first shapes now, ive had 2 RS's, 3 ST170s, 2 TDIs and the others were collection or zetec models.
First off i would say do not buy cheap springs as the focus has independant rear suspension and you will find even though the front will be considerably lower than the back, the back tyres with catch the arches with people on board and going over large road humps
You will find when you lower it, the front will sit considerably lower than the back as ive said above, you want to lower it on springs and shocks, or coilovers, springs on there own will not suffice unless they are 30mm eibachs, anything else makes for a terrible bouncy drive.
The rear spring holder bolts simply do not come off, the bolts seize inside the metal bushes and attempting to undo them results in either the head of the bolt rounding off, or the head snapping off completely, i would recommend taking the car to a garage or tyre place and paying them a small amount to heat and use an impact air gun to remove the bolts for you, copper grease them and then refit them, they can do this while you wait as you will struggle to undo them.
Some people may tell you that I'am wrong but 8 out of my 11 focus's were nightmares to work on when it came to removing suspension bolts, i just wanted to give a fellow Ford friend some pre advice before you go through some of the heartache i have over the years !
Your best bet is ebay but do not buy from pro sport or lo suspension as they are of poor quality and the aftersales service is disgraceful.
Apologies for my poor English/spelling.
Good luck

my ST170
pretty sure its been lowered on eibachs? rubs on the fronts sometimes over really bad bumps/potholes, but is is on 45 profiles. drives nice though, not really uncomfy.
