Need advise, I'm painting the butt of my snooker cue cause the lacquer had cracked and started to break up. I want to do some bands of different colours but what would you recommend to mask up with? I used masking tape to do the main colour but had to much build up at the mask line.

iv not had much time to do anything on the car as i was on my hols all last week, but i managed get a couple of hours last night to do a bit.
firstly i decided i wanted to replace the german ebay 2mm needle valve as iv been told they dont seal well at all and refit the oe solex needle valve which i had drilled out to 2mm.
so i took carb top etc etc off and did this no probs.
But on removal of carb top i noticed the drivers side pin was hardly even pinch tight, so i got it back together and went to refit carb top all went well until getting to the drivers side fitting it wouldnt tighten at all and must be threaded, so this is where some of my boost could of been going?
i now have the required bit ordered off mike and hopefully will have it here saturday.
i also adjusted the actuator to get it sitting more square as the rod didnt look square at all tbh.
iv done a bit more research on billet wheel and my mate tells me there is no increase in size.
im now hoping with the oe needle valve fitted that the fuelling can be sorted and also fingers crossed might of fount the boost/lag issue

well yesterday i finally got the 2 required studs off mike so i could refit my carb top etc, got it all on nice and no gaps like before, so i thought lets give it a test now goes to start the car and battery was virtually flat , so iv stuck my battery booster on charge and will hopefully get to fire the car into life either today or tomorrow evening
#1017
finally got around to getting the car started last night, it fired into life and then died and would not start again, so i decided to take the carb completely off and strip it down/clean out and build back up. I also removed the spark plugs and gave all them a clean and they certainly needed it with how the car has been overfuelling.
refitted carb and plugs and she fired up straight away i just had to reset the idle speed and mixture which iv never known to adjust so easily, so fingers crossed we might have a much better fuelling carb now, i will find out on friday as im using my car to go onto a job as my van is in for m.o.t

Hi mate just come back from my hols up in the Lake District had no Internet so thought is check to see how how you are and if you got the car running right in the end? At least your car is more simple to fix than my mates 2009 E class merc, the garage has had it for nearly two weeks trying to find out why it keeps going in limb mode and coming up with injector issue. Hopefully he has got it bk now but will call him later.

Iv been doing bits and bobs here and there had the carb in bits etc still got a couple of issuesthe main one being the turbo situation. Iv got one more thing to try and if no luck ill send it back to the turbo builder as something is defo a miss.
Ah the joys of modern motors I had a mate who had a similar problem on a merc.

We stayed at whinfell 6 miles from Penrith, we went to centre parcs and had a great time.
Hope it's something really silly and not a turbo issue. Is your boost controlled by a controller or a inline? Have you checked for leaks

ah we used stop off at penrith on our way back from glasgow a few years ago.
i have been over the whole system time and again and cant find anything to suggest its a leak.
i have a bleed valve on there which has always been perfect

anyway a long overdue update
i was seriously toying with the idea of selling the car and having a break from the whole car scene for a while, but i have decided to keep it an hopefully get some good use out of it this year.
first job is to renew the wiring for the fuel pump as its gone dodgy and as a result the car wont start, iv still not got to the bottom of the turbo boost issue i cant find any leaks or anything so i will be sending the turbo back to my mate for a check over just incase something is a miss there.

Had some good news got some money from my shares so looking at buying the mrs a brand new car this year and ill should have around £10k+ to buy myself a new car maybe another evo but will see what I fancy at the time and put a few quid in the bank for a rainy day.
That raider did look nice, side exit exhaust and your wheels in standard silver finish and sounded nice.

well guys after a a long overdue delay i can now say the car is finally back alive
first off i have to say a huge thanks to ex RTOC member GT Josh (josh reeves) for taking time on a saturday to head upto Stoke from Oldham and spend a good 2-3 hours sorting the starting problem and then having a good old fettle with carb and a general check over things.
The problem turned out to be a temperamental fuel relay so i now know what to go to if it decides to play up again.
fitted new carb top which obviously got rid of the air leak from there as it was only sealing on 2/3 studs.
once started josh picked up that the carb needs new throttle shaft seals and possibly a couple of base gaskets, he also advised me to get a new dizzy and rotor as it wasnt firing as well as could be.
Honestly must say josh's knowledge on the little c1j is amazing and i do hope he comes back to the scene in the future.
i was also told that i could move my radiator over a few inches so that i can run the intercooler pipe directly down the front and give it a bit more space than it has now, josh proceeded to give me the piece of piping that would be required to fit to modify the top rad hose
after all this he wouldnt take a penny off me, so he had a beer then was forced to take £20 and i gave him a couple of never used bodybuilding powders that he could sell and make £30-40 as i know hes big into the bodybuilding and surely someone would take them.
anyways i know mike at GT Turbo spares is having a few issues lately so i decided to make an order from CGB Motorsport as i need stuff asap.
i ordered the following
full carb rebuild kit
new mixture screw
new dizzy and rotor arm
new carb base mounting gaskets
new ngk b8eg spark plugs
all that lot with delivery come to £81.53 which is not bad at all.
i also got a pair of throttle shaft green seals from the RTOC club shop. im off out today to get a new battery from GSF as mine is defo past its best.
so my job will be to do all the above and also reduce 1st stage on carb down to 0.8 to start and go from there as its too rich off boost.
also got to send turbo back to wilky for a check over so going to remove it today and get it sent off
heres a brief video of it running
