Sounds like you had a blast at the bike trackday, consdering theyre not really your thing ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
Overlaying colours etc in Photoshop goes straight over my head, but if you want the RAW file to have a play with feel free, i'd love t see what you could do to it![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Heres a couple of HDR's from me... i took a few shots down at the beach tonight while walking the dog and this is how they came out

Might pop out shortly with the camera, get a few long exposure photo's, been a while since i properly used my tripod.

As this weeks photo competition is just about finished i can post this up here without spoiling anything i reckon.
Take one dark room with a small patch of light coming in
![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/Red16/Passionford/PatchOfLight.jpg)
Compose the photo a bit better so the window frame is square (or at least almost square
) and kick up some dust in the room, retake the photo with a longer exposure and it now looks like this

Graham88 - Were those shots of the Fiesta taken using a rig attached to the car? like the one Muska from this thread has been making.
Theyre fantastic examples by the way![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)

danneth you could try panning the bird in flight, i dont know your set up so cant really advise on settings, i tend to have my camera on aperture priority (usually set wide open at F2.8 unless its really sunny ),
my meterring mode is set to either spot or centre weighted (bear in mind that spot will expose for middle grey so you might want to dial in some + or minus ev compensation)
i have my focus mode on constant so that it constantly changes as the bird moves.
i also use the centre focus point only, this is the strongest .
with that set up i can just aim, half click to get focus and just follow the bird in flight, it works for me (usually, lol),
when you go back i would try and get as close as poss to get feather detail, try and set the scene by finding out where the bird is going to fly from and to, so your ready for it,
nice hawk btw.
heres a pic of a fleeing mallard. cheers nomad

TDEzzy85 - Chedder Gorge pics are very nice ![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif)
nomad - nice duck... what lens and focal length were you you using in that shot?
StephenC - Really like the first and last shots![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
I think i'm going to go out and have a look at some cameras tomorrow, think i've sold my D60 and i'm tempted by the Nikon D90 with 18-200mm VR lens to replace it

Red it was F2.8, 1/800th sec (aperture priority), 200mm (nikkor 70-200mm), the original is a bit lighter but not by much.
the 18-200mm is a good everyday lens (its perminantly fixed to my D200), the 70-200 2.8vr is loads better but it all depends what your shooting, in my view i think if you have outgrown the D60 you will soon outgrow the D90. the next real step up is the D700 (full frame, live view, high iso etc).
i am quite happy with my set up (only thing on my wish list is a 400mm F4(but even santa cant afford to bring me that, lol)), a mate has bought the D700/70-200 and is over the moon with it,cheers nomad

Red, i'd have kept your camera and spent the money on more equipment. There is no substitute for good glass, and i don't think you own a flash, or have experimented with nikon's CLS if memory serves me correctly. Just something to consider

edit: stephen c i love the last shot of yours, very nice.

cheers ben and matt, the last image is a competition entry and I was really unsure about it, the subject is basically shooting into the light source, wanted to try something outside the box rather than all the sunrise/sunset shots that had been entered. ![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Got to say Matt all your shots seem very crisp and sharp, even on my laptop screen! Just wish I could afford some similar glass, one day eh!
Ben, how do you feel you've outgrown your camera? your getting great results at the moment, look at the earlier pages of this thread then look at your latest images, getting better all the time. I thought about getting shut of my d200 for a d700 but realised that the camera isn't holding me back in the slightest, but my skill and experience is. The later are free to work on, the extra 1k for the d700 would just see me creating the same images with a lighter wallet.

Its not that i feel i've outgrown the D60 or that its holdng me back, its more to do with the fact that the D90 has some nice features that i'd like to have in my camera... autoexposure bracketting, autofocus motor in the camera body, more autofocus points (11 compared to the D60's 3), DOF preview, larger LCD screen, higher ISO quality, better adaptive D-lighting than the D60. It also has live view but im not sure what i make of that just yet.
The option to sell my D60 is there and this would offset the cost of the D90, meaning a pretty reasonably priced upgrade. At the moment im considering going down the 18-105mm VR route instead of the 18-200mm, as i dont shoot a lot at the top end of that range, which would leave me more free money to get a second lens once i decide what i want/need.
Matt... you're right about me not having a flash or experimented with the CLS... all things i will do at some point down the line, ive not really found a need for those yet as i tend to do more landscape cenes than portrait style work. I do fancy trying a prime lense at some point, just unsure of which one. I've read a few good things about the nifty fifty (50mm f1.8) and also the 35mm f1.8 from Nikon, also seen these at very reasonable prices, but i need to get out more with the camera and decide which focal length i really use the most!
I'd love a D700 but realistically i havent got that kind of budget and as already said it wouldnt improve my shots it'd just lighten my wallet a lot, although it'd still be nice to own.
Thanks for the input lads
