Picked this up tuesday.
It also has a full exhaust, im not sure what one as i havent had it on a ramp to have a proper look but its fairly loud lol bit too loud for me but ill see how it goes, and its got full Bilsteins all round, bit firm coming from a Escort with standard springs but it goes round corners like its on rails, way quicker than my Escort so over all im chuffed to bits with it

The MK3 Golf really didn't deserve the GTI badge
The actual Golf ist the first one after years that plays in the same league as the original GTI and the MK2 16V did their time...

I think that looks awesome mate......and i love the rims.....but i think you should get them spaced out so they fill the arches, then get some tyres that are stretched over them for the euro look....and maybe get them polished......
All in all i think it looks well .......good buy

stretch is just putting a really skinny tyre on a particular sized wheel (ive got 225s on my 9.5s and that isnt that much of a stretch, but I had 195s on 10s on one of my Volvos, THAT is a stretch
), and a skinny one for something that narrow would be a 2CV tyre and would be like driving on ice, lol.
Some spacers wouldnt be a bad call tho, 30mm and some mild plastic arch trimming if it was me.

Apparently not much difference between the 16v and vr6, vr has more low down and this has better top end or so im led to believe, this doesnt have all that front end weight either, plus i can get more to the gallon
Cheers![Top](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/smile011.gif)
Thanks chap, yeah the wheels do look more like there inside the arch from the pics, it doesnt look as obvious when your stood by it though.
I will certainly get some spacers though as the tyres will need doing in the next few months so mayaswell do it when the wheels come off

Cheers

Car looks nice, mop the paint work and it would shine a bit more. any performance times for it, standard ones would do.
What other mods have been done to it?
hate the wheels though, i personally think they look terrible. spacers would help but im just not a fan of the repainted audi steels.

I think i said above its just got a full exhaust front to back, and full Bilstein suspension, the brakes are decent enough as they are(vr6 fronts and rear normal discs)
Thats all i know

ive never had a prob and dont know anyone who has, but it does make the handling feel a bit odd when you do a REALLY mental stretch like the above pics.
a normal stretch, like 225/40s on a 9.5x18, is fine and totally 100% safe even on the hardest test for tyres ripping off (ie drifting) and dont affect the handling. IIRC in the olden days (50s and before i think, before tyre choice wasnt as good) racers used to stretch the tyres as it stiffened the sidewalls, giving em better handling.
as long as you go to the right places tyre places are fine. with an extreme stretch like the ones i posted up you wont get em sitting on the bead normally anyhow, need to go somewhere with a cheetah to blast em on.
normal places wont be able to, and some retards from quickfit etc would prob tell you its dangerous, tho theyve never tried it.
with 225/40 on a 9.5 sort of thing, most are fine, but you sill get some gaylords saying its dangerous. i tell them to shut up and put it on.
and yeah, the volvo rocked. shame it was so rusty i decided to scrap it
