Recaro seat... finally making some progress. (Impreza)
Sorry its not a Ford
Making some sort of progress today if any of you guys are interested.
Ive been up to my neck in it recently and havent had a chance to get this fitted.
Ive been fabricating runners to fit this as neatly as possible but its not as easy as you may think getting it to fit nice in a road car with interior trim.
Getting it in is okay... getting it where i wanna be sitting however is a diferent story
I have had no choice but to create a relief in the b pillar trim in order to get the seat where i want it. Its not pretty. However, I dont really care as its not noticable when the seats in place and another trim isnt exactly expensive.
Now i have a mock up of where i feel comfortable its tim to finish the mountings and runners and get it bolted in properly.
Here you can see the gutter i formed in the trim to create the clearance i wanted.
Its finally starting to come together

Well im just in guys.
Finally finished the runners today, i got the seat properly bolted in tonight.
Im absolutely stoked with the results. The runners fitted perfectly, opperated perfectly. The driving position is perfect, everything is absolutely bang on. Im so chuffed with the results. Especially after it had been such a frustrating task to get it to fit the way i wanted it to.
The view from outside the car looks mental, the car looks like a propper tool now and really makes the interior look focused. Ive set the seat approx 1" lower than stock and the height is perfect for me, pedals are good and steering wheel is just right too.
I went out for a quick drive just to see how it feels... all i can say is amazing. I mean it when i say you literally do not move at all once in it. The car feels so much more alive and you can feel so much more through the chassis.
The view is what really bothered me when i first purchased the seat. But im really happy to say that i have lost almost now field of vision i previously had, mirrrors, blindspots and b pillars are all in view when required.
Heres a few snaps taken on my fone of the mounts i made. Theyre fully reinforced modified OEM mounts.. i hope i have made it look as factory as possible.
Once again, sorry for the naff pics.

Ugly is in the eye of the beholder. I quite agree that its now RS500 in the looks department but it does seem to do the business performance wise and i think represents alot of car for the money.
I happet to really like my one, but then in all fairness what cars pull at your heartstrings more than a mint classic ford...?
Not much in all honesty
