An SJ as an everyday is shit lol they are awesome fun of road and amazingly competant but if your up the plain a lot you will soon need to do a SPOA lift so better have a mate who is a decent welder.

A mate had one which was lifted on 31s with a welded diff and it was good but lacked power on big stuff and was bad through big puddles. Plus with the welded dift it would drift pretty well on the road.

I would save for a 90 if it will be a dailly

here it is, rescued it from a scrapyard 9 months ago, first pic is after we got it back to the workshop and stripped it, it was actually not a bad shell for a discovery but still ended up replacing inner and outer sills ,inner wings, boot floor etc, shell and chassis were then sandblasted and the chassis was galvanised oh and its had 13" chopped out of its backside to bobtail it. the respray is meant to be flat btw its satin black cellulose its just going to get scratched to fook anyways, just waiting on a proallloy fuel tank then i can get it mot,d next week

Brilliant lads, absolutly brilliant! All those pics has put a huge smile on my face.

Now THAT is what 4x4's are for........not prancing about the high streets all shiny and low profile tyres. That does my t!t's.

I did a bit of offroading in my friends Shogun about 10years ago and it was fantastic. Unfortunatly it was his dad's everyday car, so had to be careful.......*cough*......*cough*

I was just watching a program on the Norwegien Discovery Channel about a group of folk from some Offroad magazine getting together in the US and doing a weeks tour of climbing mental paths.
They were climbing over boulders and all sorts. That's the advantage of their relaxed law about having HUGE wide tyres on cars.

I like others would love to do that more, but can't afford it at the mo.

Tony.. for the second time tonight

Alex, i was running a set of recip maxi 235x85x16s on my old landrover, a popular choice also are insa turbo special tracks which are a copy of the tyres i have on my new one which are simex extreme trekkers

if you are just doing a bit of laneing a set of all terrains will prob do you

PS ditch the paj and buy a landrover

a 2" lift kit from paddock will do the job, around Ł200 plus vat

you might need to do some arch trimming aswell depending on what offset of wheels you are using

But a Cozzy u realy can't in the wet 2wd that is,

i might get round to sorting a cage out in the coming year.....

tyres are 35" simex extreme trekkers size 35x11.5x16 which is 295/80/16 but you cant fit these without doing a 2" body lift

stick a set of paddocks spacers on you will be surprised at how much better your turning circle is ...remember to adjust the steering stops after you fit them though lol
