I know you can add tags when initially starting a thread, but if they weren't set by the thread starter, how do they end up in the tag box... Does the site automatically grab specific words and add them or do the mods add them by an edit or similar?

Reason I ask is because I have just bumped my For Sale thread and noticed odd words in the tag box. What the word 'clit' has to do with car parts is a little beyond me!

Everyone can add up to two tags to each thread they have the permissions for, and 5 for the thread starter.

 

So it gives thread readers the options to add tags.... Where?

I think tags are pretty pointless really, apart from the obvious humour side.

 

I have been considering turning them off as a lot of members on Passionford are far too immature to utilise them in an adult manner.

 

It appears to me that an "adult manner" is the thing they most get used for

search engine optimisation, the tags are designed to help search engines index the site, and to allow users to navigate the site better, they arent actually intended for comedy effect.

If you put "YB Cosworth Engine" in as a tag to a few threads, those threads then become linked via their ascociation with that tag.
