This is supposed to be a reference site for Ford enthusiasts. I don't see the problem with people having non-fords. They used to have them, they may still again and it doesn't mean their input any less valid.

Stopping people using PF as a playground to vent the frustrations of their own inadequate lives would be a good change.

Doubt that'll ever happen though.

A great change would be for alot of users to realise it is just a website, it's not real life and they are one of MANY members. There are far too many "WHERE'S MY POST GONE???" or "WHY WAS XXXX BANNED???" posts. Who cares??? And what do they expect to achieve by posting it up except for a bit of attention and maybe [if they're REALLY lucky] someone will agree with them and validate their entire lives.

In my opinion GD is a really dull place to be now.

2a. Victimisation/Abuse of individuals and arguing.
Any kind of personal attack or victimisation of an individual member is punishable by instant ban at the webteams discretion, this includes defamatory comments about people or companies in signature areas. Also, publishing, distributing, circulating or otherwise propagating any material, which may be deemed abusive, offensive, anti-social, racist, sexist, distressing, harmful, cause anxiety, be of a threatening nature or any posting found to be a general nuisance can also render teh poster liable to a ban at the webteams discretion.
Furthermore, any messages found to insult, discredit or bring disrepute to a Moderator or Moderators will be removed and the poster banned at the moderators descretion. Should an argument breakout that we feel can be left on PassionFord, the topic will normally be moved to our "Dummy spitting" forum so as not to disturb teh harmony of teh main rooms but there may be exceptions. Be aware that when an argument breaks out in a forum it is standard procedure for us to remove all members rights to edit their own posts within that forum for up to 48hours or until such time as a webteam member has investigated the complaint. This is so that any illegal material, defamatory comments, insulting personal or racist abuse that is against PF regulations cannot be secretly deleted by the Author when they get wind of a complaint to teh webteam being lodged. This rule is to protect the membership as a whole from abuse going undealt with and also the PassionFord administration from prosecution.

Any member with personal problems with one or two (two max) individual users can request that those particular members are no longer allowed to reply to topics that they have personally started, however, this must be requested in the opening post of the topic itself in a polite and non agressive manner. (The request must never be added into a users signature) The webteam can then, from this point onwards delete any replies by these gagged members without notification to the member and warn/ban them as they see fit if they persist in ignoring this users request.

but the whole point of gd is for peole to moan and complain and tel us about how things have happened in their normal day to day lives

without this what would we talk about?

just imagine if you couldn't talk about personal shit in gd, where would it go? where would the psoters go? what would fill teh vacuum left by the stern moderation of all personal posts/topics/subjects?

you can't just say "well, i think chip/stav/phil/simon/stu/etc/etc is a git so they won't post here again which is great" because there are so many other thngs they can offer an insight into, and to stop anyone from posting just normally as they do know might end up with pf turning into another interford, cue tumbleweeds blowing through the forum Surpris

when pf started it was a whole new world for many people who were new to the world of the internet and forums and stuff, just like me, and you need a bit of normality in the forum just to be able to intergrate better, ther is already a well publicised split of those who frequent the muppet room and those who tend to stay in gd, anyone who posts in the other room is treated like a long lost relative who now one expected to actually turn up, stay for 3 posts and then fuck off again Surpris and if you were to dump both segregated parties into one room (muppet) then it's going to cause loads more problems

remember when gd was split?
i thought it was a good idea but everyone complained about it, and then it went back to one room and mroe peole complained abut it being one room than had complained about it being 2 rooms, so where do you draw the line?

the answer is you don't, you just carry on the way you were because everyone is comfortable in their own little rut of posting in the various sections and rocking he boat by adding/removing stuff and gerenraly messing baut is going to cause more problems

if it's not broke, don't fix it

from that, it would seem that someone else has banned him, not you, and the finger is being pointed at you

i had a similar experience and found that no matter how much you argue your point, some peole won't want to see things your way as they have already made up their minds

as you say, it won't matter what anyone else thinks so don't let it bother you you've always come across as a fairly impartial bod and everyone says things they may later regret, it's not like you've accused him of soemthing really heniuos or slandered him or the like so i'm sure someone will reach an amicable colculsion, hopefully jonnhy

why should we have to tread lightly so as not to upset everyones friends ?

we should set an example i agree, but as users we are allowed an opinion
if you get upset by that opinion then it's not our fault ...

or in your own reasoning..
mods should not be allowed to have an opinion about any user OR any thread on pf as they are moderators.

then if that is the case i will start to go through every thread posted and see who has broken the rules ... or in your opinion who has broken the rules to the letter of that they were written.

because moderators do use discression on posts sometimes this shoots down your theory about not being allowed to be able to voice an opinion about any users OR threads that have been posted....

so you want it both ways so long as you are not affected by any of it

if you don't mod enough you are seen to be a weak mod
if you mod to omuch you are seen to be over enthusiatic (or eagle for everyone else who's got too big a sig )

you wil never please all the users all the time so if you get a bit of flack it's all in a days work, afer all, you've got your own room to chill in so if you think you are being singled out, spread the word
it's amazing how well some behave when they know that there is an eagle eye on them
