As far as im aware the rules are such that anything which identifies you as a trader is banned, hence tony @ turbosystems had to chance his name, even though he had no advertising on his profile at all, not even a link to his website IIRC, so he wasnt advertising either he was just identifying himself and that wasnt allowed.


As far as im aware, you are allowed a personal identity, but not a commercial one in any form at all, so anything that mentions your company name isnt allowed.

I wasnt picking at your posts to have a go at you, I was merely highlighting to you that even by what you were saying, the sig identified you clearly as a trader.

How would you have me identify myself so that those who read my post/advice know its author, as "Karl" is a bit vague allthough I admit some people will know that Karl is myself having been my user name since 1998 when the RSOC board began?

Karl uniquely identifies you just as an individual just as well as any other username on here identifies anyone else IMHO

People who read repeated posts from Karl will make the same decision that I have about certainly people, like for example "Karl" and "Gareth T" which is "this bloke really knows what he is on about, I will make sure I pay attention to posts I see him participate in" in the case of users who have been on here a while, im sure they have already made that decision with regards to yourself just like I have done.

I unlike yourself or Gareth Thwaite, sometimes don't post on here for months at a time.

As such it is not obvious to everyone who "Karl" is. Why should I have to prance around hinding behind the fact I run Norris Motorsport. I do, thats a fact, and people should know who they are talking to on here.

Removing my signature and my surname Norris is an act of both suppression and victimisation. I am entitled to be an active user on here. Just because I identify myself as Karl Norris does not breach trader rules, as I am neither trying to sell anything, nor am I entitled to any trader priveldges.

This censorship is rediculous, and as I said removing my profile will ensure I cannot upset the moderators anymore.

Karl, any user who is on the site less often is less likely to be noticed by their peers, wether they are useful or not.

I personally think that the banning of trade names was bad for passionford.
When I first joined the site, seeing people openly posting as:

Turbosystems
MA Developments
Martin @ Reyland
(and yourself of course)

etc


Made me think "hmm, this place is a good site if all these tuners choose to use it, its cool being able to get advice from people with credentials like that"


So what im giving you here isnt my personal opinion of whats best for passionford, Im merely relaying what ive seen discussed on here with numerous other traders who all kicked us a fuss like you are doing and basically got told effectively "hide your identity or payup or stop using the site" simply cause like you say, im online more than you so have seen it numerous times already.

If they decide to let you keep your sig FOC, it will be the first trader they have done that for and I guess will spark a row from all the traders who have been banned from doing so.



My understanding of the rules is that you should be allowed "Karl Norris" but not your signature, as "Karl Norris" simply identifies you as one of the many people in the country called karl norris and doesnt identify you as related spefically to norris motorsport (or norris designs for that matter, lol)

tuner wise i have only spoken to harvey gibbs and stu on the phone at msd and mark shead on here.

but as to this arguement,i really cant see the problem.karls sig didnt have a phone number,his user name didnt have an associating surname,and he didnt advertise anything for sale or any business.so in effect is no different to anyone else who decides to put his sign in their sig.

if a normal joe can have his sign why the fuck cant he its his bloody sign for christ sake.

so .. if you continue to have the nms logo or anything advertising your buisness then you will as you say be unfairly treated by having said patrs removed...

if your customers wish to use the nms logo or norris etc in their signatures then that will be allowed unless it gets to a point where like above certain individuals are just trying to make a point then the post will be cleaned up.

if you feel that aggreived then i suggest you speak with the admin of this site and state your case...

any usernames resultingly linked to trade names are being contaced and given the chance to register or change their name.
most have been quite happy to do so as they understand.

if we have missed someone then please feel free to tell us, as we are human and do make small errors and miss things. but with 29820 users it is taking a bit of time to go through the entire list...
i do not like removing signatures and it wasn't me karl but i have been sasked to moderate this forum and in doing so i have to do it with impartiality so if a moderators is incorrect then it too goes ... dont get no favouritsm here
