greg the problem with that is that passionford used to pride its self on banter and piss taking and so when it got too far it was ignored

now you wanna follow the rules ect people now seem not to accept it

alost of the people who use the net use it to make a new personality ect,,,,, act like the belive they act in person when they aint like that at all

enforcing these rules WILL make it loose the fun aspect of this site, btu then to be fair i stopped useing this site due to all the crap thats posted so i guess im crap at this desision

now tbh ive had a few handbags at down PM's to and from users,,,,,, some of em even make me cry when ive had em and not even bothered to reply to em as there just mental

paddy it is true about me though,,,,,,,,, a "few" people on the ODD ocasion say i talk too much,,,,,,,,,,, supose it ant be right,,,,,,,, maybe

and when certain posts are left to go one then some users see it that the boundary's can be pushed that bit more , so andy pulls it to a end quicker than most if the rules are broken , so whats the problem rules broken post removed ,edited job done

More entitled than Andy?

Where the only difference is Andy [and all other Mods] have to try and form an unbiased opinion about people and to whether or not they are detrimental to the site.

Try doing that and not wanting to screamtype "C*NT" at people occassionally

You're all allowed your opinion as of course I am allowed mine. I think this site has started to fill up with self important keyboard warriors that think it's a personal WebLog for their daily activities. They appear to feel they can pick on certain members because there's 30 other users ready to post, quoting them with a string of crying smileys.
Yes, more entitled than Andy, as IMO a Moderator has to have respect from the users... the majority of users aren't bothered whether they themselves are respected or not.

A good Mod is one who is not noticed as being a Mod, one who is fair and unbiased, has respect from most of the users and does not enter into slagging matches trying to defend themselves.... nor keep on copying/pasting the rules to justify themselves. The copying/pasting is coming a bit tedious now.

I was a Mod on ScoobyNet for 2 years and all Mods were told to show respect and be polite to all the users, even if you thought they were tossers.... deal with everything by PM and try to reason politely with the keyboard warriors.

Redkop - I appreciate what you're saying and I think we're actually making mostly the same points.

However, if a thread like this appears it's Andys right as a PF user to defend himself. Regardless of how other people perceive what a moderator should or shouldn't be, we are also users of this site and unpaid enthusiasts

And on that note, I am off into the sunshine of the real world to enthuse about the young scantily clad females in Guildford.

Respect does work both ways, but the onus is more on a Mod to have a user's respect.

I have no problem with Andy at all, I am just not keen on the way he deals with issues and that's talking from over 6 yrs experience I've had for being a Mod both on RSOC [twice], SN and a few other smaller bbs. It's all very well going 'gung ho' at users, but I've found, through experience, it's far better trying to do it politely & trying to reason, thus avoiding the situ on PF right now. Both on RSOC & SN, the Mods don't have the ability to ban users, which personally I think is a good thing.

If Andy is defending himself as a 'PF user' he should ignore the fact he has

but isnt the fact that rules are inplace and mods to nforce them makes banning part of it , or should posts ect be locked or removed until a group of mods make a desicion of what to do?

Simple question - if Andy is doing such a good job, why do twice as many people think he's doing a bad one as opposed to a good one.

The poll I did is still there for all to see, and the results speak for themselves - bandwagon jumpers my arse. Personally I call that a majority.

The only thing missing from this post is one of the mods jumping on and bleating about how they do such a difficult job and aren't paid for it/give up their free time etc etc.......

Please let's not forget how desperate this particular person was to become a mod, and the lengths he went to.

It's easy to see which moderators are good on this site - generally tends to be the ones whose actions go fairly un-noticed.

What happened to the users voting in mods like in the beginning?

Such a good system imo. (if restricted to gold members to avoid 'abuse')

I honestly never saw members voting mods in so i wouldnt know about that, in my case the webteam had to vote and the decision was made.

cause we would vote for people we like rather than people that the site owners want as mods mate

tbh would pops have been a mod if it was down to the other mods ? i remember him not being a choice but he was voted cause he was liked and he done a good job

voting for mates as mods seems to be the way now and THAT seems to give the idea that its them and us with the mods perhaps ?

but who cares as andy is a cool guy even if he can be unresonable at times ( which is the thing people are talking about andy)

i think some mods seem to like the extra bar on there shoulder and then look down on the rest of us who they dont feel or like

whats happened to lewis these days btw,,,,,,,, is hes till a mod or did he get sacked for not turning up for work

What the fuck you on about, thats how you became a mod in the first place!
By people voting you in!
But nobody did, it was you with multiple usernames voting yourself in!

in what way phil .. you push your luck .. get banned then complain .. as i said proove to me that chip is deliberatly having a pop at you and he will be banned ...
so its ok for you to slate me on the board but when you need something doing your nice as pie about it ..

as for quoting the rules all the time ..
why shouldn't we ??? you lot seem to be oblivous to them some days ..

yes respect should be a 2 way street .. i mod totally unbiased .. if someone has a problem with something i have done why not ask me about it via pm .. i can admidt i have made a few errors in the past at decisions but have always pm'd the user and apologised for what i have incorrectly done.

i moderate signture pics and avatars most of the time, but hey the amount i have resized for people dont count then ...if its too big it gets removed .. end of .. i am a high profile moderator mainly due to what i do.

How did I forget? Too right you should have stepped down, and hung yuor head in shame!

You then begged to be given some sort of position, so got given the role of sig mod, because every other fucker was fed up of doing it. Then you weaseled your way in to full mod status.

Bottom line is, and I agree with Chip on this, you wanted to be a mod FAR too much for my liking. Why so keen to be a mod? It's not like you actively participate in anything else Ford related......

so you feel that having abuse aimed at you is acceptable then ???
and when you get a ban for it you all start kicking off ..
No it's not acceptable, but neither is rudeness, sarcasm or snidey threats about being banned from a Mod! Do you really think that that users should ignore?

its in the rules people ... it's only really started to be enforced harder as we want people to join the site .. not do a couple of posts .. get all the normal crap posted to em and then think fook that lot .. bunch of twats ..
'Ivory Tower' springs to mind

I find that offensive, being called a tosser!!

No doubt Andy is a good Mod for the other things he does on PF, but he should really step away from the 'ban button' and try to earn some respect from the majority of users. The attitude he now has [being on the defensive] is not becoming for a Mod.

Cue MikeR moving it to the Politics forum.....

Lynne, the tossers are the bandwagon jumpers...I.E Those with about 500 posts and registered about 3 months

I know some people have strong views on how he mods the site being trigger happy etc....but it gets too personal imo....how Andy mods and how Andy is as a person are two different things imo....

Anyway, never met Andy but he seems sound te me, and as a regular user of the BB thought id air my views on the subject...and those of you who have been around a while now know thats what i do

This place really is going down hill fast

Same people causing the same shit every day ruining it for the real
enthuiast be it Ford or otherwise and scareing off newbies and regulars.

I like to come on here to offer help and advice yet find more often I dont
help or just read posts just in case a war of words breaks out from
harrasment by the usual clowns on this site.

I am not against banter but recently things have got much worse and
there has been a moderator clamp down but only the trouble makers
seem to complain yet still seem to get away with causing trouble
at every opportunity... STILL..

(Me posting this will no doubt cause yet more from the usuals )

Dont understand why people bitch about being banned when they have
blatently broken the rules and complain when the mods only are just
doing there unpaid job given the guidelines set by Stu.

Some people need to grow up. !

I accept this is now a multi car website but the "passion" for me certainly
has gone as its become more of a home for attention seeking care in the
community patients.

Its a real shame, 4 or 5 people ruining it for the 20000 others....

Sorry to say this Stu/Petrucci/web team but it needed saying....
