A rather simple install in a Focus
Gaj approached me a while back (sorry its taken so long to sort out), to install the kit he had recently aquired for his Focus Mk1. He knew I know the Focus inside out so wanted me to handle the fitting side of things as he had already sorted out the equipment through various sources...
He didnt want anything fancy...as, in his own words..'hes getting old' LOL! Gaj...your never too old mate!!!
The kit list off the top of my head was...
Alpine 9855 'glide touch' headunit
Alpine PDX amp for the mids
Rainbow components on MDF adapters
Cerwin Vega 10" sub in generic ported box
Autoleads 0g wiring kit
From memory, the bass amp was a Lanzer item...
All I supplied was fitting accessories and cabling...
The kit

Seats out

Decided on power cable route

Carpet up!
IMG_0828.jpg
Driver side stripped out to run cables
IMG_0834.jpg
Covulated tubing used around power cable
Ran through the holes...covulated tubing was wrapped tightly with insulation tape to ensure it wont move
IMG_0830.jpg
Speaker cables ran..pulled to the side so you can see them
IMG_0836.jpg
All looking OEM!
IMG_0837.jpg
Amps positioned on back seats
IMG_0832.jpg
Wired up!
IMG_0838.jpg
Everything nice and neat
IMG_0840.jpg
Carpet back down
Back seat back in
IMG_0843.jpg
Boot in a bit of a messy state
IMG_0844.jpg
MDF Door adapters

FINISHED!

How much would something like that cost mate? I've got stuff in the mondeo but I realistically can't put a big sub in there as I've got 2 kids and a wife who needs to go shopping
I've got one of them flat subs which sounds really nice but I just need someone to actually figure out what could go where and how to fix it to what it needs to be fixed to, currently it's wedged in behindthe seat with the rest if the boot stuff holding it in place

How did you route the power cable for the amps from the battery through the firewall into the cabin?
I have an active sub to fit in my MK1.5 focus, but want to avoid drilling holes if i can.....
Also, can you get 6x9's instead of 5x7's in the front doors without much modding?
thanks

Hi Magnum, we drilled through the bulkhead, only needs to be a small hole...its the 'neatest' way of doing it...
If you want to avoid holes, then jack the car up, take the wheel off, arch liner off, and run the power cable in through the wing, and in from the A post...you will see the cable everytime the passenger side door is opened though which is why I dont like this method!
6x9s will not fit in the doors mate no matter what...well, unless you want to hack the door metal skin and some of the door card...

I found a different way of routing the power cable on mine if you can get to underneath where the wiper motor is kept dunno what its called i got a long thin wire/coathanger (about a couple of mill diametre) thread it through the existing loom grommet/seal etc and it came out down the back off the glove box its a pig to guide it at first but once you find it at the other end all i did was tape the power cable to and pull it back through then just tied it too loom back to battery. Its a sod to do but was no drilling or jacking required.
Hope that made some kinda sence
