Enduro Question?
Can anyone tell me what the limits are at Enduros?
Ive only been there with a quiet four stroke on non mx tyres.
But I did see some two strokes... Does anyone know if you can turn up with an out and out crosser like a cr and be allowed in?

Depends on the event mate
Time card enduro's are usually F.i.m marked tyres (eg metz six days, etc) not seen a noise tester yet!
Some but not all require you to be legal as some have road work involved in them.
H&H are a lot more relaxed no road work and 99% they let mx run sometimes in separate class
Basically a time card enduro is a timed event were by you are let off the line in 2,s or ,3s with specific times marked on your card to reach check points, If you arrive at your check point early then all the better have a rest then go through the check at the time marked on your card,go through early and you will be given penalty points
On the other hand if you arrive late at a check, you must add the time that you are over to your original time at your next check! sounds confusing but it get's your brain working, during the lap there will be at least one special test which you are timed through from start to finish
In the event of a tie with another competitor the winner will be decided on your special test times (ie fastest through the test)
Some of these enduro's are 5-8hr events depending on class and how fast you are!
H&H events are basically a motocross race on steriods (Flag-Flag)Held over anything from 1hr-3hrs
Varying terrain anything from mx tracks to deep deep bogs,Quarrys, woods bit of everything
H&H events are *Normally* suitable for all ability's from novice to champ riders
Some are technical some are fairly flatout and boring
Will not involve road work so you can race pretty much anything
If your new to offroad most will find anything this time of year fairly hard going due to the ground condition's!
Hope this helps a bit
Andy.

Yeah thats great andy, thanks.
Ive done a few a relaxed enduros where you just have a tag on your wrist and time your laps. No road work.
But I much prefer two stroke crossers to enduro bikes, but my main concern is being kicked out for noise and having the wrong tyres (and probably the wrong gearing). Ive not done any which include road work, so not to bothered on that front.

For H&H whats sounds like what you,ve done
250 2strokes are the ideal weapon! plenty of grunt and lightweight!
A re-packed silencer will last a good while and 2 strokes are generally not as loud as 4 strokes
As for tyres 99% of clubs running Hare&Hound events let you run mx tyres so no probs there
An 18" rear wheel is a big advantage as the tyre choice is a lot greater + the chance of a pinch flat is a lot less likely aswell due to the bigger wall on the tyre!
Gearing is more of a personal thing mate i find it alot more forgiving on the bike to back off a little top end so it's not screeming it's nuts off rather than gear it very tall for top end then in the woods you are on the clutch all the time as it is running away from you!
What end of the country you from? loads of clubs doing H&H racing now
Fast eddy holds events all over midlands-wales-devon
Dirtbike-trax/True grit offroad Hold events mainly around yorkshire
A good site is Enduronews they have most of the events from all the organiser's on there

Hertfordshire, think the ones weve been on have been organised by enduroland... which have been really good relaxed events.
I had a wr250 and to be honest never really got it out of second, which is why I was thinking of a 125 crosser much lighter and id be using the gearing a bit more. Plus the weight would be a massive advantage.
No way would I ever own another two stroke 250! im not the best off road rider and my rm250 scared the crap out of me!

To be honest i would not reccomend a 125 if your not that quick if that makes sense! lol
125's need to be ridden very hard to get anything from them, but are very rewarding when ridden right
It,s swings and roundabouts to be honest a 250 4 stroke would be the best bet as with a 4 stroke they have lots more bottom end grunt to pull you out of any trouble (ie wrong gear or a bit tierd)where as a 125 you need to be in the right gear all the time or they don,t go basically!
A 250 2stroke has a similar affect as a 250 4t as they have the grunt to pull you out of sticky situation's but when they come on song into the power band they are gone!!!
Be-aware though a 250 four stroke mx bike will have a very close ratio gear box ,small radiators so will boil very quickly if not kept cool,And the main ingredient after 1.5hrs of hard muddy slog.........The magic button!! ELECTRIC START!!

There is an Enduroland event on the 17th jan called "Tall pines" it is one of the best events you will do!
Just a practice day so no pressure but good value and a full days riding!
I,m racing that sunday or i would of gone for definate to it!

pete , have you looked at the gas gas range
good friend of mine had an ec 250 road legal enduro , plenty of grunt but alot more forgiving than say my old cr 250 , ( down to gearing and power delivery)
plus witht the added bonus of road legal shold conform to more fo the stricter regs ,
me i thought it was a great all rounder and in certain aspects of trial riding made me alot faster than my old yz450 4t ,
just an option ,
but i agree with andy , stay clear of a 125 ,

best bike iv ever rode off road was a ktm 200 2 stroke you could do whatever you wanted with it
4 strokes are more my cup of tea but if you actualy want to be fast light wait is the way to go unless you have massive straits and you dont get them in enduros over here

Enduro's
You are pretty safe on a MX bike for most events but if you enter any of the british championship events (beacons, Diss etc..) then you will need FIM enduro tyres, lights, horn etc.... You will also find that there will be a few tight checks to sort the men out from the boys and then usually a mx test and a cross country test as well. Rode them for 20yrs, spent a lot of cash doing so. So now gonna spend a lot of cash on my escort LOL....
Check out enduronews website for events, also have a look at david knight to see how it should be done....

cheers guys
Beefy - yup i saw a few gas gas and a couple of husquvarnas (Spell that one!) 2 strokes never ridden one though
Jacko - I had a 200 exc ktm 07 and it was the absolute nuts but had to sell it pretty much a week after, I cant afford another yet hence thinking of a 125 crosser
easy ways - british chapionships! Im just out for a laugh to be honest, I just enjoy being out there (In the dry!) not good enough to be competitive.
